Cameron Maybin had three hits, including a solo home run, while Jus n Upton had a pair of hits, including a go-ahead, two-run home run. J.D. Mar nez added two hits and a RBI in the win. Jus n Verlander started for Detroit and picked up his 14th win of the season, allowing two runs on four hits with one walk and eight strikeouts in 7.2 innings. IGLESIAS ACTIVATED FROM THE 15-DAY DL, PRESLEY DESIGNATED FOR ASSIGNMENT: The Tigers today have ac vated shortstop Jose Iglesias from the 15-day disabled list. Iglesias, who has been sidelined since August 12 with a le hamstring strain, played in four games with Triple A Toledo during his injury rehab assignment and hit.375 (6x16) with two runs scored, a double, a home run and a RBI. To make room on the 25-man roster for Iglesias, the Tigers have designated the contract of ou ielder Alex Presley for assignment. K-ROD TIES BILLY WAGNER ON ALL-TIME SAVES LIST: Francisco Rodriguez notched his 36th save of the season last night, striking out one and walking two in 1.1 scoreless innings. The same was also the 422nd of Rodriguez's career, tying him with Billy Wagner for fi h in MLB history. Rodriguez is now two saves shy of tying John Franco for fourth in MLB history. Rodriguez s appearance last night was the 908th of his MLB career, tying Eddie Guardado for the 22nd-most in MLB history. J.D. STAYS HOT: A er having his 14-game hi ng streak snapped on Thursday, J.D. Mar nez started a new streak last night, going 2x4 with a run scored, a double and a RBI. Since being ac vated from the disabled list on August 3, Mar nez is ba ng.414 (36x87) with 18 runs scored, eight doubles, six home runs and 13 RBI in 22 games. Mar nez ranks second in the American League with a.414 ba ng average during the month, while he is third with a.452 on-base percentage and fourth with a.713 slugging percentage. ZIMMERMANN INJURY REHAB: Righthanded pitcher Jordan Zimmermann began an injury rehab assignment with Triple A Toledo last night, star ng against Columbus and throwing 3.2 scoreless innings with two hits allowed, one walk and one strikeout.
