8 Season Outlook: The Bruins look to bounce back in 2018 and compete for a SoPac West title. Despite losing strong senior leadership from Chasen Novak (P) and Kenny Pyle (OF, SoPac All-2 st Team), the Bruins are returning a group lead by a talented core of seniors and juniors. UCLA has a dangerous lineup 1-9; look for them to combine their timely hitting with an experienced defesne and a formidalbe pitching staff. After winning the Fall Fullerton Tournament, the Bruins look to carry momentum into the spring and make a run for the SoPac West title. 13 of our season last year, this team realized that he could be relied upon in a clutch situation, to make the bing play when the game is on the line; Ryllen Abeshima, the starting catcher and toughest person on this team, when this team needs someone to keep the calm and bring a cool head to a high-tension game, this is the player we know we can turn to; Tyler Showen, the player that we want on the bases at any given time, because he can and will make things happen that very few players could ever do; Keeton Cahill, a great presence to have on this team, on and off the field, someone that we know we can rely on for leadership and intelligence in any situation, regardless of context; Emile Guzman, the single most passionate player that anyone of this team has ever played with, he always has something to contribute during team meetings, and is always the first to explain something relating to baseball IQ or fundamentals; Aaron Squires, who we can always count on in order to get our team going from anywhere on the field, and as he transitions to the infield, we get a better idea of how reliable and truly valuable this man is. New additions: Adrian Gonzales, great defensive player and solid relief pitcher, performed well in the preseason; Jack Wason, incredibly reliable pitcher and great utility infielder, great on the bases as well; Lawrence Reese, fantastic pitcher that touches some of the fastest velocity that the NCBA has likely seen with offspeed that could fool minor league players; Thomas Kervick, power hitting left fielder, our best hitter in the preseason; Cameron Hollabaugh, hard-working first baseman and outfielder, as well as relief pitcher that we know we can rely on in any clutch situation.
