His 13-strikeout effort against TCU on June 21, 2010, led the Bruins past the Horned Frogs, 6-3, in Omaha, Neb. p WELCOME TO OMAHA UCLA s 2010 squad went 51-17, advancing to the College World Series for the third time in school history (first appearance since 1997). The Bruins opened the season with 22 consecutive wins. p CWS RUNNER-UP FINISH UCLA defeated Florida (11-3) and TCU (6-3) to advance to the winner s bracket at the 2010 College World Series. After dropping a 6-2 decision to TCU, forcing an elimination game, the Bruins cruised past the Horned Frogs, 10-3, the following day to advance to the championship series. South Carolina won the national title by defeating UCLA, 7-1 and 2-1 (11 innings) on consecutive evenings.

(El Camino Real HS) DRAFTED/GRADUATED PLAYERS Garett Claypool had a strong four-year career, making a name for himself as the Bruins reliable midweek starter. As a freshman, he shined both in midweek starts and in a relief role, picking up four saves. He was drafted following a strong junior season, but chose to return for his senior year. The decision proved wise, as Claypool went 8-3 with a career-low 2.29 ERA in 2010, helping 11th Round Selection 2009 MLB Draft 32nd Round Selection UCLA advance to the College World Series for the first time since Drafted in the 11th round by the Philadelphia Phillies during his senior season, Claypool led the Bruins to three NCAA postseason appearances, including two NCAA Super Regional berths (2007, 2010). He returned for UCLA in 2008, batting.250 as one of the team s center fielders, before blosomming in As a junior that spring, he belted seven homers, collected 39 RBI and stole 15 bases all while posting a.301 average in 55 games. Dunlap returned in 2010, catapulting UCLA to the College World Series for the first time since In his final year with UCLA, Dunlap batted.314 with six home runs, 20 doubles and 45 runs before the Baltimore Orioles selected him in the MLB Draft. After working himself back onto the mound in 2009, pitching in just nine games, Goeddel became one of UCLA s go-to right-handers from the bullpen in He pitched in 36 games, all in relief, going 2-0 with a 3.06 ERA and one save. Goeddel finished third in the Pac-10 in appearances (second on the team) and logged 59 strikeouts and 23 walks in 50.0 innings. He pitched in four postseason games, including two relief outings at the College World Series. Grace pitched in 17 games as a freshman, logging a 3.55 ERA in 33.0 innings. The left-hander went 4-3 with a 4.72 ERA in a career-high 40.0 innings in 2009, notching 34 strikeouts and just 11 walks. He made seven pitching appearances through his first two seasons before sustaining an elbow injury midway through this sophomore season, abruptly ending his pitching career. 5 UCLA BASEBALL SIGNS EIGHT PLAYERS FOR 2011 The UCLA baseball program received eight signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period in November Aided by assistant coaches Rick Vanderhook and T.J. Bruce, the seventh recruiting class under Savage includes six position players and two right-handed pitchers who will enroll at UCLA in the fall of UCLA s recruiting class features righthanded pitchers Michael Kerman and Joe Ross and catcher Austin Hedges.
