The M-Braves also enter tonight s game with a six-game road winning streak. LAST TIME OUT: The Mississippi Braves plated four runs with two outs in the first and never looked in the rear view mirror en route to a 9-3 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts on Wednesday night at AT&T Field. The Braves (25-20) got a two-out, two-run double from Matt Kennelly to break the tie against Lookouts (17-28) starter Nick Struck in the opening frame, and the Braves never gave up the lead. Elmer Reyes followed suit with a two-run double of his own to make it 4-0 out of the first. Mississippi tacked on another run in each of the second and third innings. In the second, Mycal Jones smacked a two-run double, moving to third on an Emerson Landoni single and scoring on a Cedric Hunter RBI groundout to first to make it 5-0. In the third, Matt Kennelly reached when Darnell Sweeney threw high to first for his first of two errors on the day. Two batters later, David Rohm got a single to make it 6-0. Williams Perez (3-3) was brilliant again as he celebrated his 23rd birthday. He threw six innings of shutout baseball, allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out seven en route to picking up the win. Mississippi grew their lead to 7-0 when Kennelly, Kyle Kubitza and Reyes hit three straight singles to open the fifth, with Reyes driving in his third run of the game. In the sixth, the Braves made it 9-0. Jones reached on another Sweeney error, Landoni singled and Seth Loman hit a mammoth two-run double off the top of the wall in straightaway center. The Lookouts didn t start scoring until the eighth off of the Braves bullpen. They got an RBI single from Scott Schebler off of Eric Berger in the eighth. They tacked on two more to pull to 9-3 off Brandon Cunniff, scoring on an RBI knock by JC Boscan and a sacrifice fly by Darnell Sweeney. Struck (0-3) took the loss for the Lookouts, allowing six runs-five earned-on nine hits over three innings. As a team, the M-Braves offense ranks tied for first with a.255 batting average while the pitching staff ranks third with a 3.26 ERA. SAVING GAMES: Closer Shae Simmons currently leads the Southern League with 12 saves. That puts him on pace for 38 saves which would break the M-Braves singleseason record (28) set by Luis Valdez (aka: Jairo Asencio) in Simmons has given up runs in only one (1) of his 17 outings this season. As a team, the M-Braves notched 58 saves in The second-most saves by a pitching staff in a single season was 39 in as of 5/21 APRIL LEADERS: Gustavo Nunez led the M-Braves offensively during the month of April, hitting.329 with two doubles, two triples and seven RBI in 25 games. After coming off the DL in mid-april, Elmer Reyes posted a.383 average with six doubles, a triple, one homer and 10 RBI in just 12 games. On the mound, J.R. Graham posted a 1.86 ERA in five starts for the Braves. Shae Simmons recorded five saves and a 1.46 ERA in 10 outings. Simmons did not allow a run in his first nine appearances. LAST TIME OUT Did not factor in the decision as he left with the game tied at 3-3. The M-Braves plated four runs in the seventh en route to an 8-3 victory over Tennessee. Bromberg started game two of a doubleheader against the BayBears. He gave up two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three. Tossed five innings, giving up just one hit as the Braves shutout MOB 2-0, 5/6. Worked six innings, limiting the Biscuits to just four hits and a walk. He struck out six to pick up the win and lead the M-Braves to a 1-0 shutout victory.
