ABOUT THE LAST ONE: INF Joey Meneses stretched his hitting streak to seven straight games after going 2-for-4 in yesterday s home win against the visiting Hillcats. His career high for consecutive games with a hit is 13 and was set back in 7/12/14 and 8/4/14. INF Omar Obregon owns Carolina s longest hitting streak of the 2016 season. Obregon hit safely in 13 straight between April 10 and April 22. ON TO THE NEXT ONE: The Mudcats begin a seven game road trip with game one of a three game series in Salem tonight against the Southern Division leading Red Sox. The Mudcats are coming off back-to-back series wins against Wilmington and Lynchburg and are 4-1 over their last five games and 5-5 over their last 10. RHP Max Povse gets the series opening start in Salem tonight for Carolina. He enters the game at 2-1 with a 1.69 ERA and as the league leader in ERA, WHIP (0.71) and average against (.163). Povse has started four times this season and has four quality starts this year. Mudcats starters have turned in five straight quality starts and have eight total quality starts this year. Povse faced just two over the minimum through his six full innings on April 10. He struck out seven and allowed just one hit over six scoreless frames 4/15: Povse tossed his second straight shutout on 4/15 against Myrtle Beach and raised his scoreless innings streak to 13 to start the season. The 6 8 right-hander walked one, yielded just two hits and struck out seven while earning his first win of the season in front of a crowd of 4,934 in Zebulon 4/20: Povse allowed three runs and six hits over six innings against Salem Red Sox at Five County Stadium. He worked through the first three innings without allowing a run before allowing a Franklin Guzman two-run double in the fourth. Povse had stretched his scoreless innings streak to start the season to 16 and 1/3 innings before Guzman s run scoring double. Povse walked two struck out two while taking his first loss of the season 4/26: Pitched through a career high 7.2 innings with seven strikeouts and just two runs allowed on five hits while earning his second win of the season. He gave up a first inning RBI double to Ryan O Hearn, but quickly bounced back by retiring the next 12 he faced in consecutive order.
