2 Dear Coach or Administrator, On behalf of the University of Memphis, we are pleased to welcome you to our city for your upcoming softball game. Please take a few minutes to review this packet before your trip. This visitor s guide includes information that you may need leading up to and during your game with the University of Memphis. Please make note of the location of your upcoming game. This packet contains information that is pertinent for games played at the Tiger Softball Complex. 4 General Information Athletic Training If a certified athletic trainer is not traveling with your team, please forward a letter detailing your players needs to Lauren Wesner at lewesner@memphis.edu. The following items will be provided for your team: Ice Water and Cups Towels Injury Ice Biohazard Supplies If additional items are needed that are not covered in this above list, please contact us. We will try to accommodate all of your needs. A dedicated training room will be located within your locker room. Buses can drop off their teams in front of the main entrance into the softball stadium but they will then be asked to park in the lot. Dugouts Visiting dugouts are located along the third base side. Home team will occupy the first base dugout. Shower facilities can be made available to teams upon request. 5 Visiting Team Post-Game Meals Visiting teams can arrange for post-game meals to be brought to their dugout or to their bus during the game. If you would like to have a post-game meal delivered, please let Tim Coleman know prior to the game at tcleman6@memphis.edu. Visiting Team Locker Rooms There will be no visiting locker room available for pre/post game. If showers are needed post game, please plan with Tim Coleman at tcleman6@memphis.edu. Ticketing Softball is a non-ticketed event. Admission to the game is free and all seats are general admission. No pass list is needed for guest admission into the game. Credential Requests Media Relations will handle all credential requests for your University. If you would like to request credentials, please contact Jen Lawson at j.lawson@memphis.edu or Post-Game Meeting Area for Visiting Fans Visiting Team fans can meet players and coaches post-game outside of their dugouts. Please request that fans remain off the field and inside the dugout at all times post-game. South Campus Map 5

6 Severe Weather Plan The University of Memphis Athletic Department has developed the following severe weather plan in accordance with American Athletic Conference and NCAA game procedure guidelines. Game operations staff will meet with the umpire crew upon their arrival and provide them with an update of any potential weather that will be in the area. The Athletic Department has subscribed to the Telvent DTN weather service. This service notifies the game operations staff on site of any lightning strikes within a 30-mile radius of the stadium s location. When lightning is detected within 10 miles, game operations staff notifies the umpires that serve weather is imminent. The Home Game Administrator continues to keep direct contact with the officials until lightning is detected within a 7 miles radius. At this point, officials will suspend the contest and send coaches and teams into their respective dugouts. Game operations staff will set up a designated meeting area inside the official s locker room for communication during the game delay. When Telvent DTN service indicates that there has been 30-minutes since the last lightning strike within 10 miles, teams will be allowed to return to the field. At this point a discussion will occur between both head coaches and the crew chief to determine the warm-up period that will be granted to both teams. This warm-up period must not be less than 10 minutes. It is the game operations staff s responsibility to communicate with both teams when the warm-up period will begin. The game operations staff will also utilize the public address system to communicate with fans to seek shelter on the concourses when a weather threat is imminent. At the end of the delay, announcements will be made over the PA system that teams are back on the field and it is now safe for fans to return to their seats. 6
