LUGO'S CURVEBALL: According to statcast, Lugo has thrown 37 curveballs over his first two starts of the 2017 season with batters going 3-9 against the pitch this season...last year, Lugo threw 157 curveballs and held opposing hitters to a.235 mark (8-34)... His curveball had an average spin rate of 3,318 rpm in 2016, which led MLB among pitchers who threw at least 125 curveballs...lugo also had the system's highest tracked curveball in terms of spin rate since the statcast system was put into place prior to the 2015 when he struck out Miami's Xavier Scruggs swinging at a 1-2 curveball in the sixth inning of his start on August 30, Statcast measured the curveball to Scruggs at 3,498 rpm (revolutions per minute).
