1 FISH BITES The Marlins conclude a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers today at 1:10 p.m. The homestand began with Miami dropping two of three to the Philadelphia Phillies. This afternoon, the Fish will send RHP José Ureña to the mound for his second career start and third appearance against the Dodgers, going 0-1 with one save and a 1.35 ERA. He will be facing the Dodgers' RHP Kenta Maeda, who gave up four runs on seven hits in his only career start against the Marlins, April 28 at Chavez Ravine. Today's national anthem will be performed by the Rachel Osinoff, while ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by City of Miami Fire Chief Maurice Kemp, first-ever Puerto Rican Olympic gold medalist Monica Puig and Denis Testa from Hialeah Park Racing & Casino. The first 5,000 kids will receive a Marlins Kids Stars & Stripes Batting Sleeve, presented by SeaWorld. The Fish came into this homestand after returning from a 1-6 road trip to New York (1-3) and Cleveland (0-3), marking their worst road swing of seven-or-more games since going 1-6 against Colorado (1-2) and San Diego (0-4) from August 15-21, Upon conclusion of this series, Miami will hit the road again, going on a six-game trip to Atlanta (Sept ) and Philadelphia (Sept ). LAST NIGHT VS. LOS ANGELES Jeff Francoeur broke up the Dodgers perfect-game bid in the eighth inning with a single off the glove of a leaping Corey Seager, and Dee Gordon added a single in the ninth in Miami s 5-0 loss to Los Angeles. Dodgers pitchers retired the first 23 Marlins in order before Francoeur s two-out single. Adeiny Hechavarria reached on an error to lead off the ninth, and two batters later Gordon singled to give the Marlins their only scoring threat of the evening. Tom Koehler (9-11) was tabbed with the loss, allowing four runs on six hits (three home runs) and two walks while striking out four over 5.0+ innings. UP NEXT Following this afternoon's tilt, the Marlins will take off to Atlanta to start a six-game road trip and three game series tomorrow at 7:10 p.m. Miami has gone just 4-8 against the Braves this season, which includes a 3-4 mark at Turner Field. Today will mark his 25 th appearance of the season overall. His last eight outings have been starts, going 2-5, 4.63 (44.2/23); his first 16 appearances were out of the bullpen, going 1-1 with one save and a 7.52 ERA (20.1/17). Will be facing Los Angeles for the third time in his career (second start). In his last appearance against the Dodgers on April 27 of this year, he earned his first and only career save in a scoreless 1.2-inning relief appearance. Only career start against Los Angeles was on June 28, 2015 at Marlins Park, holding the Dodgers to one run on four hits, four walks and four strikeouts across 5.0 innings, suffering the loss in the 2-0 defeat.
