A : ; < 8 ; : < 8 = = Saturday, April 28 First Tennesse Park Nashville, TN THE BABY CAKES The New Orleans Baby Cakes tonight play the fourth game of a five-game set against the Nashville Sounds. This is the ninth meeting between the clubs this season and the Cakes first visit to The Music City; New Orleans took four of five games earlier at The Shrine. New Orleans has lost nine of its last 13 games at First Tennessee Park after winning 12 of its first 15 in the three-year-old stadium. YESTERDAY S NEWS Adam Conley, Drew Ruckinski and Jumbo Diaz spun the Cakes third shutout of the season last night picking up the Cakes first road win of the season. New Orleans scored a run in the fourth with three consecutive singles driving in a run. The Cakes offense manufauctured two insurance runs in the eighth without the benefit of a hit. New Orleans used a pair of walks, A stolen base, wild pitch, an error and a sac-fly to generate the offense. Isaac Galloway scored two of the runs to lead the offense. ON THE HILL Zac Gallen is set for his fifth start of the season. Gallen is coming off of his longest outing of the season, he worked 7 shutout innings on April 21st in a Cakes 2-0 win against OKC. He allowed four hits against the Dodgers, walked three and struckout five. This is the second start of the season for Gallen against Nashville, opening weekend he spun six shutout innings, allowing four hits in a win. Gallen will make his third road start tonight, he is 0-1, 4.91 ERA on the road and 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in two home starts. He made a start in First Tennessee Park last July 7th in a no-decision for Memphis. He allowed two runs in 4.2 innings pitched. Gallen was acquired in a multi-player deal with St Louis that featured Marcell Ozuna. FOR STARTERS Baby Cakes starting pitchers have given up only eight earned runs in 51 innings (1.41 ERA) over the last nine games and opponents are hitting.187 (35x187). Colorado Springs hit.173 (13x75) with one extra-base hit in four games against Cakes starters, and the Dodgers were 9x46 (.196) in two games. Nashville is batting.196 (13x66)off of New Orleans starters in this series. BULLIED Over the last 16 games, the New Orleans bullpen owns a 5.68 ERA (37 ER/58.2 IP) and has allowed a home run in eight of those contests (nine total) while opponents have batted.308 (74x240). The relief corps is 2-7 during that stretch, during which the pen has suffered four blown saves, including three by James Buckelew. The five blown saves overall are tied with Memphis for third-most in the PCL (Albuquerqueand Oklahoma City, 6). JUMBO-LAYA Jumbo Diaz has converted each of his four save opportunities, putting him in a four-way tie for second place in the PCL, while the rest of the Cakes bullpen has gone 2x7. Diaz has surrendered one hit in 11 at-bats with runners in scoring position. SENIOR CIRCUIT The Cakes have won five of eight games against American League affiliates. NOLA designated hitters are batting.381 (8x21) with two HR and three RBI. THE ROSTER - New Orleans has 24 active players with Sean Burnett on the disabled list. Miami optioned RHP Trevor Richards. " # $ $$ 1998: Scott Elarton hurled a seven-inning complete game while fanning 10, including four in a row at one point, in an 11-2 win in the first game of a doubleheader against Colorado Springs. It marked the third consecutive start where Elarton struck out at least eight. SHOOTING BLANKS - The Cakes three shutouts is good for second highest in the PCL, Nashville (5). The Cakes were involved in 24 shutouts last year and 26 in 2016, leading the league both seasons. ROCKY ROAD New Orleans dropped its first nine road games for the first time in franchise history setting a new record; the longest previous streak was three in a row (2006 at Albuquerque and 2011 at Nashville). The longest road-losing streak in club history was set last July (13). In the last 35 road games dating back to last July, New Orleans is 6-29 on the road. The Cakes are in a stretch of 13 of 17 away from the Crescent City. SIR ISAAC Isaac Galloway s stolen base last night was the 57th of his New Orleans career; only Colin Porter, who swiped 61 bags from , has more steals in a New Orleans uniform. He has seven stolen bases this season, and is tied for second in the PCL. Galloway has four hits in his last ten at bats after snapping a 0x17 skid during which he had struck out eight times. STEAL AWAY The Baby Cakes are third in the PCL with 18 stolen bases and have been caught only six times, tied with0 fourth-best success rate in the league (75%). RISPY BUSINESS New Orleans had one hit in four at bats last night with runners on base. The Cakes are hitting a PCL-worst.232 (41x177) with runners in scoring position through the first 21 games. New Orleans ranked last in the league in each of the last two years, batting.250 with RISP in 2017, and.257 in A LONG ROAD HOME New Orleans has surrendered at least seven runs in seven of ten games on the road, posting a 5.59 ERA (53 ER/85.1 IP) while opponents have batted.315.
