RECENT RESULTS: The Tigers suffered a 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in the series opener on Monday night at Comerica Park. The game was scoreless un l the ninth inning when the Rays struck for three runs against Tigers closer Shane Greene. Detroit made things interes ng in the bo om of the ninth, scoring twice and loading the bases with two outs, but Dixon Machado grounded into a fielder s choice to end the comeback bid. Jordan Zimmermann started for Detroit and pitched 7.0 shutout innings with two hits allowed, one walk and five strikeouts. Offensively, Victor Mar nez drove in a pair of runs and was 1x4, while Jeimer Candelario, Nicholas Castellanos, José Iglesias and JaCoby Jones each had one hit. The Tigers and Rays play the second game of their three-game series tonight. Following the series against Tampa Bay, the Tigers will embark on a seven-game road trip, which includes four games against Kansas City (May 3-6) and three games at Texas (May 7-9).
