The Sox opened the homestand by winning three of five games from Minnesota, including a 5-1 victory last night. Following this three-game series and a day off on Monday, the White Sox take a three-game trip to Minnesota (8/29-31) to conclude August. The Sox went 2-4 on their last trip to Los Angeles-NL (0-2) and Texas (2-2) from 8/15-20 and 4-2 on their last homestand vs. Houston (3-0) and Kansas City (1-2) from 8/8-13. TONIGHT'S STORYLINES Miguel González leads the American League with a 0.90 ERA (2 ER/20.0 IP) since 8/9, facing Houston at home and the Dodgers and Texas on the road during that three-start span. Avisaíl García is expected to rejoin the club after missing last night's game to attend the birth of his son, Avi García is hitting.452 (19-42) over his last 11 games. The White Sox bullpen has thrown 9.0 scoreless IP over the last three games. The Sox have held the lead in 10 of their last 11 games. The White Sox have played four consecutive sub-3:00 hour games for the fi rst time since 5/19-23 (fi ve). Nicky Delmonico has reached base safely in 21 of his fi rst 22 career games (.307/.429/.573). ROSTER MOVES Prior to tonight s game, the White Sox placed 2B Yoán Moncada on the 10-day disabled list with a bone contusion of his right shin the Sox also returned 3B Matt Davidson from his injury rehab assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day disabled list. Davidson, 26, was placed on the disabled list on 8/8 (retro to 8/4) with a right wrist contusion he is batting.238 (72-302) with 22 home runs, 51 RBI and a.500 slugging percentage in 88 games this season. Moncada, 22, is hitting.188 (19-101) with six doubles, one triple, three home runs, 11 RBI and 13 runs scored over 30 games this season, his first with the White Sox after being acquired from Boston in a fi ve-player trade on December 6, LAST NIGHT'S RECAP Derek Holland combined with three relievers on a fi ve-hitter as the White Sox defeated Minnesota, 5-1, in the deciding game of the series. Holland, who was 1-6 with a ERA (47 ER/41.0 IP) over his previous 11 games (nine starts), allowed one run on three hits over 6.0 IP Gregory Infante, Danny Farquhar and Juan Minaya each threw 1.0 scoreless IP to extend the bullpen's scorless streak to 9.0 IP. Yolmer Sánchez was 2-4 with a home run (No. 7), RBI and run scored, Kevan Smith went 2-4 with a double, RBI and run scored, and Nicky Delmonico scored two runs. Leury García (back stiffness) and Yoán Moncada (shin splints) left the game with injuries. BURGER HITS FOR CYCLE Class A Kannapolis 3B Jake Burger, the White Sox fi rst-round pick (No. 11) in the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, hit for the cycle last night, going 5-5 with three RBI in a 6-5 victory vs. Greensboro. Burger reached the cycle in his fi rst four at-bats and then added a bunt single in the 11th inning that set up Gavin Sheets to drive home Blake Rutherford with the winning run. He is hitting.293 (46-163) with nine doubles, two triples, four homers and 24 RBI in 39 games with Kannapolis this season. Rutherford, the No. 45 prospect in baseball according to MLB. com, went 3-5 with a double, walk, RBI and three runs scored. PLAYERS WEEKEND Major League Baseball will celebrate Players Weekend this weekend throughout the weekend, players will wear colorful, non-traditional uniforms featuring alternate designs inspired by youth league uniforms and nicknames on their jerseys. Players also will wear and use uniquely colored and designed spikes, batting gloves, wristbands, compression sleeves, catcher s masks and bats, as well as specially designed caps by New Era, and socks from Stance. In addition, players will have the option of wearing t-shirts highlighting a charity or cause of their choice during pre-game workouts and postgame interviews. DETROIT The season series is even at 6-6 the White Sox are 4-2 at Guaranteed Rate Field and 2-4 at Comerica Park the teams have been rained out three times this season. REVOLVING RELIEF DOOR Since the All-Star break, the White Sox have traded relievers Tyler Clippard, Dan Jennings, Tommy Kahnle, Anthony Swarzak and David Robertson Nate Jones (elbow surgery) and Zach Putnam (Tommy John surgery) are out for the season. PITO POWER According to STATS LLC, José Abreu is the fi rst player in White Sox history to begin his major-league career with fourplus consecutive 25-homer seasons and the 10th in majorleague history to accomplish the feat (see list at right). Abreu needs 23 RBI to become the third player in majorleague history to begin his career with four straight seasons of at least 25 homers and 100 RBI he would join Joe DiMaggio ( ) and Albert Pujols ( ). NICKY MAKES HIS MARK Rookie Nicky Delmonico has reached base safely in 21 of his fi rst 22 major-league games, including a franchise-record 13 in a row to start his career (sources: Elias/Baseball Reference). Delmonico became the fi rst player in White Sox history to hit six home runs in his first 19 career games (STATS LLC), eclipsing the previous mark of 21 set by José Abreu in He recorded his second career multihomer game on 8/18 at Texas (also 8/16 at Los Angeles-NL), becoming the fi rst majorleaguer this season to hit an inside-the-park home run and an over-the-fence shot in the same game. Delmonico joined Abreu (4/8/14 and 4/10/14) and Zeke Bonura (5/19-20/34) as the only rookies in Sox history with a pair of multihomer efforts within a three-game span (Elias). STRENGTH IN NUMBERS The White Sox possess the No. 1 farm system in baseball, according to the MLB.com updated rankings, including eight of the Top 100, tied with Atlanta for the most in baseball. Yoán Moncada is rated No. 1, followed by OF Eloy Jiménez (7), RHP Michael Kopech (12), OF Luis Robert (26), OF Blake Rutherford (45) and RHPs Lucas Giolito (59), Dylan Cease (65) and Alec Hansen (100).
