1 MEDIA INFORMATION Salem Red Sox (46-33/ 6-4, 2nd 1.0 GB / Northern) Carolina League Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox vs. Wilmington Blue Rocks (42-38/ 3-7, 5th, 4.0 GB/ Northern) Carolina League Affiliate of the Kansas City Royals Game No. 81 Home Game No. 37 Frawley Stadium Sunday, July 2, :05 p.m. BLUE ROCKS BREAKDOWN HOME: AWAY: STREAK: W 1 LAST 5: 2-3 LAST 10: 3-7 BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN : Andres Machado racked up a career-high 14 strikeouts and Chris DeVito drove in four runs as the Wilmington Blue Rocks beat the Salem Red Sox 8-3 on Saturday night at Frawley Stadium. Machado dominated the Salem lineup, including a stretch of six consecutive strikeouts and nine straight outs. At the plate DeVito finished with a season-high four RBIs in the game while D.J. Burt reached base five times in the victory. FANNING THE FLAMES: Machado s 14 punch outs were the most by a Blue Rock in The previous high water mark on the season was held by Scott Blewett, who struck out 12 Salem Red Sox hitters on June 22. Machado was just three whiffs shy of tying former Kansas City Royal Glendon Rusch for the team record. He struck out 17 batters for the Blue Rocks back on August 7, POWER SURGE: DeVito drove in four runs on three hits, including a two-run homer. The blast was his fifth of the year with Wilmington his and his first long ball in front of the home crowd at Frawley Stadium. The slugging first baseman has 16 total dingers this year when adding his time in the South Atlantic League. It is also the fifth time DeVito has knocked in four runs in a game on the year and is the second time he has done so with Wilmington. Brandon Downes and Chase Vallot are the only other Blue Rocks to drive in four runs during a game in SETTING THE TABLE: Burt was the spark at the plate the Blue Rocks needed. The second baseman reached base five times on Saturday night, stroking three singles, drawing two walks, swiping two bags, scoring twice and adding a pair of RBIs on the night. It was the first time in Burt s career that he reached base five times. The three-hit day marked the 17th time this year Burt tallied multiple hits in a game. In his last six games, Burt has recorded three multi-hit games, hitting.380 (8-for-21) during that span. TONS OF TIGHT GAMES: The Blue Rocks have played in a Carolina League-high 30 one-run games so far in No other club in the ten-team loop has played in more than 27 single-score affairs. Incredibly for Wilmington, the Rocks are now in such contests thanks to having won 12 of their last 13. THEY SAID IT, MANAGER JAMIE QUIRK: (Andres Machado) had great fastball command, he challenged and went after everybody. Charlie Corbell and I actually talked to him after his last starter and he put some things into play which we talked about. Sometimes he actually throws too many strikes. He threw, what we call, strikes at the right time and ball-strikes at the right time. He got (Salem) to chase a lot of pitches running out of the strike zone, but those come because you are ahead in the count. He did a very good job of staying aggressive, staying ahead in the count. 14 strikeouts, that s a big number...i don t think you ever expect 14 strikeouts. He is starting to build up. You know this is a kid who missed a whole year in 2015 and he is building himself back up. He has that ability. He s got a nice fastball, I wouldn t call it a dominate fastball but he pitches with his fastball, he gets a lot of outs with his fastball. He kept runners off base. If you look at his numbers going into today, which we talked to him about, with nobody on base, his batting average against is phenomenal. Then all of a sudden he gets a little traffic and he has had difficulty getting people out, especially with two-outs in the inning. (Saturday), early he had a couple base runners on with two-outs and he got out of it. I think that was a big turning point for him. He will get going, everything is fine, all of a sudden they get a little something going and he can t close the inning out. I think he ran with it. It was the second inning when (Salem) scored and it was only one run. If you look at his past history, he would give up a crooked number there. That was big for him to get out and continue on. His progression is fine, started in the bullpen and now starting, you can t ask for anything more. THEY SAID IT, PITCHER ANDRES MACHADO: My slider wasn t working the last two outings so (Saturday) I tried to make it a good pitch, a quality pitch. That s what I was throwing on the mound, hitter by hitter and inning by inning. I think I had my best stuff (Saturday night). That s what helped me getting 14 strikeouts and six in a row. This is my first time throwing 14 strikeouts and going seven innings. I wasn t looking for strikeouts; I was looking for contact with hitters. When I got the opportunity to get a strikeout, I made good pitches and (Salem) swung at a lot of them. Making the first pitch a strike and keep moving (the ball) around home plate (has been the key to his rise in strikeouts recently). I tried to do a good job today with that and that s what happened. Tonight s Starters WIL : RHP Scott Blewett (4-6, 4.25 ERA) vs. SAL : RHP Roniel Raudes (2-4, 5.14 ERA) Scott Blewett was selected in the second round of the 2014 draft by the Kansas City Royals, which was noteworthy because the tall right-hander became the first New York high school pitcher drafted in the first two rounds since the turn of the century (it last happened in 1999). The six-foot-six 210-pounder is the sixth-ranked prospect in the Kansas City Royals system according to Baseball America. Scouts love his fastball, which consistently sits in the mid-90s. His curveball has improved dramatically since joining the Royals system, while scouts have noticed consistent progress with his changeup as well. Blewett spent the last two seasons in Low-A Lexington, shaving almost a full run off his ERA in 2016 (from 5.20 to 4.31). He also missed a lot of bats last season, fanning 121 in 129 innings pitched. Growing up just outside of Syracuse, Blewett committed to play college ball at St. John s, before the Royals doled out a reported $1.8 million signing bonus ($800,000 above slot). Blewett has lasted at least six innings and allowed one earned run or less in six of his last ten starts. Last time out, Blewett had a tough outing against Frederick, allowing five earned runs on seven hits, but he also struck out eight batters in just four and two-thirds innings of work. The right-hander makes his 16th start of the season and his fourth against Salem, who he has dominated lately. Last time out against the Red Sox on June 22, Blewett set a career-high with 12 strikeouts in six innings of work in a no-decision. On June 16 against Salem, he turned in his best start of the year. Blewett worked six scoreless innings, allowed just two hits, walked three and tied a career-high at the time with 10 strikeouts. Roniel Raudes is in his first season with Salem and his third in the Boston Red Sox organization. The 19-year-old right-hander is rated the sixth-best prospect in Boston s system according to Baseball America. Last season, the native of Nicaragua pitched for Low-A Greenville and posted an 11-6 record with a 3.65 ERA in 24 starts. He struck out 104 batters in 113 innings while walking just 23. This is his 14th start of the season and fifth start against Wilmington. His last time on the mound was on June 27 against Lynchburg, where he took the loss after surrendering four earned runs on eight hits in five innings of work. This season against Wilmington, he is 0-1 with a 5.85 ERA, allowing 13 earned runs and 30 hits in 20 innings. In his last start against the Blue Rocks, Raudes did not factor into the decision and gave up three earned runs on seven hits while striking out four batters in five innings. Scouts like his three pitch arsenal which features a fastball, changeup and curveball in addition to the way he sequences his pitches Regular-Season Series: WIL vs. SAL (SAL leads series 9-7) Date Site Result WP LP Save 4-17 SAL L, 11-2 Kent (1-0) Griffin 0-1) 4-18 SAL L, 6-5 Bautista (1-0) Marte (0-1) 4-19 SAL L, 7-6 Poyner (2-0) Machado (1-2) 5-1 WIL L, 4-3 F/10 Weems (1-1) Machado (1-3) Kelley (1) 5-2 WIL W, 10-2 Castillo (1-2) Jimenez (3-1) Cramer (1) 5-3 WIL L, 4-3 Pimental (1-1) Marte (0-2) Lau (1) 6-15 WIL W, 8-0 Castillo (4-3) Raudes (2-3) 6-16 WIL W, 7-0 Blewett (4-5) Shawaryn (0-2) Tenuta (1) 6-17 WIL POSTPONED DUE TO RAIN MAKE UP DATE 6/ WIL W, 3-1 Machado (3-6) Jimenez (8-2) Lovelady (6) 6-18 (G2) WIL W, 5-0 Ruxer (4-1) Kent (5-3) 6-22 SAL L, 11-7 Glorious (3-2) Sheller (0-1) 6-23 SAL W, 4-3 Marte (3-2) Lau (2-5) Lovelady (7) 6-24 SAL L, 6-3 Weems (6-2) Terrero (1-4) Kelley (6) 6-25 SAL L, 9-2 Shawaryn (1-2) Puckett (6-6) 6-30 WIL L, 3-1 Shawaryn (2-2) Puckett (6-7) Nogosek (1) 7-1 WIL W, 8-3 Machado (4-7) Anderson (1-2) 7-2 WIL 7-3 WIL 7-24 WIL 7-25 WIL 7-26 WIL 8-11 SAL 8-12 SAL 8-13 SAL 8-25 SAL 8-26 SAL 8-27 SAL Upcoming Probable Starters and Schedule Monday, July 3 vs. Salem, 6:35 p.m. RHP Jared Ruxer (4-2, 3.12 ERA) vs. LHP Dedgar Jimenez (8-3, 3.71 ERA) WGLS-FM 89.7 Tuesday, July Lynchburg, 6:30 p.m. LHP Cristian Castillo (5-3, 2.80 ERA) RHP Triston McKenzie (6-4, 3.16 ERA) WGLS-FM 89.7 Wednesday, July Lynchburg, 6:30 p.m. RHP A.J. Like Wilmington s skipper in Jamie Quirk, Oliver was a catcher and was drafted in the 1983 MLB Draft in the second round by the Cincinnati Reds. He was a member of the Reds team that defeated the powerful Oakland Athletics in the 1990 World Series. He went on to spend 13 seasons in the big with the Reds, Brewers, Tigers, Mariners, Pirates, Yankees and Red Sox. He played in nearly 1,100 games and posted a.247 batting average to go along with 102 homers and 476 RBI. After a 13-year hiatus from baseball, Oliver returned and became the manager of the Lowell Spinners in He spent two years with the Short- Season Class A affiliate and led the team to a composite record. He was then promote to Salem in The 2017 Salem squad has a handful of Boston s top prospects. 19-year-old Roniel Raudes is the highest ranked prospect on the team, tabbed as the sixth-best prospect in the Red Sox farm system according to Baseball America. He was named the Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2016 and posted an 11-6 record with a solid 3.65 ERA in 24 starts in Low-A Greenville. Offensively, the Sox have Josh Ockimey at first base. The slugging first baseman clubbed 18 home runs which was second-most on the farm while pacing the South Atlantic League in walks (88). He paced Greenville s offense in multiple offensive categories including home runs, walks, games played and doubles. He enters the season as the No. 10 prospect. Other prospects that have received attention by Baseball America that will be featured in Salem in 2017 is Gerson Bautista who has the best fastball in the system. Bautista spent time with the Lowell Spinners a year ago and averaged a strikeout per inning. Behind the plate, Austin Rei is considered to be the best defensive catching prospect and gunned nearly 40% of wouldbe-base-stealers in Greenville last year. Tate Matheny, son of St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny makes the jump from Low-A Greenville after hitting a respectable.277 in 105 games which earned him a selection on the South Atlantic All-Star team. Tate was a fourth-round pick by the Red Sox in 2015 out of Missouri State. Along with the top prospects, Salem has 14 returners in Familiar faces for the Blue Crew are Matt Kent who etched his name in the Salem record books as the lefty tossed 156 innings last year which led the Carolina League and also set a new, single-season high. With the addition to Buies Creek and Down East, Salem has shifted to the Northern Division after playing in the Southern Division. Last season, the Blue Rocks and Red Sox battled 20 times in inter-division play with Salem taking the head-to-head match up The Rocks and Red Sox continue to see a lot of each other as of late. The two teams ended the first half with a four-game series at Frawley Stadium in which the Rocks swept and eliminated the Red Sox from playoff contention. Another four-game set starting on Thursday will mark eight games in 12 days the two Northern Division foes will battle on the diamond. So far, Salem leads the series 9-6 with the Rocks dropping their last three against the Sox.

3 TONIGHT S BLUE ROCKS STARTING PITCHER #45 RHP Scott Blewett Acquired: Drafted in 2nd round in MLB Draft in 2014 out of Baker H.S. (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) Born: Syracuse, N.Y. Age: 21 (April 10, 1996) Resides: Baldwinsville, N.Y. Ht: 6 6 Wt: 210 College: N/A Bats/Throws: R/R Pitch Repertoire: Fastball, Changeup, Curveball SCOTT BLEWETT: Scott Blewett was selected in the second round of the 2014 draft by the Kansas City Royals, which was noteworthy because the tall right-hander became the first New York high school pitcher drafted in the first two rounds since the turn of the century (it last happened in 1999). Blewett suffered the loss his last time on the hill on June 27 at Frederick when he allowed five earned runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings of work. However, in his last three starts, he has racked up 30 strikeouts in 16.2 innings tossed. JACK OF ALL TRADES: Growing up in northern New York the conditions were not exactly ideal for a young, budding baseball star, but Blewett refused to let that get in his way. When it was too cold to play baseball as a kid, the Syracuse native embraced other sports to sharpen his competitive spirit. In an age of hyper-specialization in youth sports, Blewett now sees the positives from diversification. A big thing a lot of people said is I would be fresh once I get to pro ball because I won t have nearly as many innings under my belt Blewett says. I was a three-sport athlete and I got a chance to get different perspectives from different games. I was able to compete in other atmospheres. I know a lot of guys in California and the south where it s baseball all year round. I ran cross country and ran 5K s. It doesn t sound that fun but it was exhilarating because you re competing with that guy in front of you. When I was younger I played hockey and then in high school (I played) basketball (because) of my height, so you had that element of competition. Ultimately in the spring it was baseball. Once I got to my junior and senior year it was strictly baseball. But the earlier experience gives you that competitive edge. So now for me in pro ball when I m competing for a position or on a roster I had the edge, because I understand how to compete. SCAPULA ISSUES IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR: Blewett had a health scare near the end of his high school career which he says came from a lack of understanding of the importance of arm maintenance. In high school I never did any shoulder work. When I got to pro ball that was something that was really emphasized and I found out I had made a big mistake. But in high school Blewett was at a showcase in the south and that mistake caught up to him. I was down in Florida and throwing in warm weather and I think I threw the hardest I ever threw. I had a lot of scouts watching, a lot of adrenaline, and I was overthrowing and doing a lot of things that I probably shouldn t be doing that was detrimental to my body and ultimately mu health. When I went back to New York in colder weather I pitched in a game and felt some shoulder fatigue. I pulled myself out of the game, which I d never done before. He went to the doctor and after lots of tests the diagnosis was--in his words-- a really week scapula. It took me a few months to rehab to get back to maximum strength. Once we got to that point I knew I had to change some things both approach wise and work wise. From high school to now I ve worked on maintaining the strength in my scapula. SCOTT S CHOICE: A lot of guys forego college to play pro baseball, but not everyone has the kind of perspective as a teenager that Blewett brought to the decision. As a young kid I always said I wanted to play professional baseball and that was my dream. I jumped into it and chased it hard. I ve always been someone that can t go into one thing and concentrate on another thing. With school, education was always focused on when I was in high school. It was always about making sure you get your work done then focus on baseball. It s a lot easier to handle things in that atmosphere, but once I got to college I knew the work was going to get much harder and the competition was going to get harder. So I said hey if I can get into pro ball I d have one focus. If I went to college I would have two goals, graduate and hopefully get drafted again. So the tall righty decided to turn all of his attention toward making a living at the sport he loves. A LITTLE ADJUSTMENT: Sometimes the smallest of keys can help a pitcher find his rhythm. For Blewett it was an accidental discovery in the bullpen at Potomac two weeks ago that had a big impact. I had the sun in my eyes so I pulled my hat down, Blewett recounted. And wouldn t you know even something small like that let me keep my chin down and my head aligned. That keeps me from yanking my fastball Once I got that, and got in my groove with my confidence it all came together Appearances (Wilmington) The Book on Blewett (2017) At Home: 2-2, 3.00 ERA 6G/6GS On the Road: 2-4, 5.07 ERA 9G/9GS LH Opp Avg:.268 RH Opp Avg:.239 Record when he pitches: 4-6 Wilmington Record when he starts: 5-10 Run Support (overall): 48 Run Support (starting): 3.1 ERA: 4.25 Season-High K s: 12, Salem Red Sox) Career-High K s: 12, Salem Red Sox) Last Win: 6/16/17 vs. Salem Red Sox Last Loss: Frederick Keys Most IP, 2017: 7 IP, 2x (Last: Potomac Nationals) Most IP, Career: 7 IP, 6x (Last: Potomac Nationals) Career Numbers Year/Teams(s) W-L ERA IP 2014/Burlington /Lexington /Lexington /Wilmington Totals Date OPP G GS DEC ERA IP H R ER BB SO HR HBP WP Score Upon Exit Result Notes 4/8/17 POT T, 3-3 POT, 4-3 (F/12) 1st career start at High-A 2 2 L POT, 4-3 POT, WIL, 5-4 SAL, 6-5 4/23/17 WS T, 0-0 WS, 1-0 1st shutout start of L BC, 1-0 BC, W WIL, 9-0 WIL, 10-0 Longest start of season 5/10/17 POT 7 7 L POT, 6-1 POT, 6-1 Most ER allowed in start in W WIL, 2-0 WIL, 2-0 1st win vs. POT in four starts 9 9 L FRE, 8-1 FRE, 10-1 Set season-high in strikeouts 5/26/17 POT W WIL, 4-2 WIL, WIL, 6-5 WIL, 9-6 6/11/17 BC L BC, 2-0 BC, 4-0 6/16/17 SAL W WIL, 7-0 WIL, 7-0 Tied career-high in Ks WIL, 4-2 SAL, 11-7 Set career-high in Ks L FRE, 5-0 FRE, 5-1

They said it: Working with the coaches down in Spring Training and learning the game more. That s my game, speed and getting on and creating havoc on the bases. I told myself I had two pitches and then I m out...it took its own form (on 62-game on-base streak). I pretty much just rolled with it. I ended the season in Idaho and pretty much knew about my streak but when I started last season in Lexington I didn t even think about it. (On keeping streak alive) I think developing as a player each year and getting better each year helped... I think defense is the number one key to me. That helps wins games. I know hitting does too but if you have pitching and defense, that can help make a run in the playoffs...working with the coaches down in Spring Training and learning the game more. That s my game, speed and getting on and creating havoc on the base. I told myself I had two pitches and then I m out... I know Brandon Phillips doesn t really run like that but I compare myself to him. Jose Altuve as well. #15 Chris DeVito INF Ht: 6 2 Wt: 220 Age: 22 B/T: L/R Lives: Northridge, CA LG: 3-for-5, R, HR, 4RBI, SO Homestand: 3-for-9, R, HR, 4RBI, 3SO Notes: Selected in the 8th round of the 2016 June MLB Amateur Draft out of the University of New Mexico. (4-for-5, HR) 2016 Notes: Spent the season with the Burlington Royals (Rookie/Appalachian League) -Hit.261 with nine home runs and 50 RBI in 60 games. Led the team in both HR and was ranked second in the league in RBI. They said it: (On what led to great success in Lexington to start the season) Honestly, my teammates. My first couple of games weren t very good and my teammates knew I could do it, they had my back and I couldn t have done it without my teammates and the great coaching staff we have down there...just trying to be as consistent as possible (On what he worked on in the off-season). That s everyone s baseball goal, to be as consistent as possible...i actually know probably more guys here (in Wilmington) than I did at the beginning of the Lexington season so I m super excited. It s a great group of guys here...i loved that school (the University of New Mexico). Great school, great place to hit. Coach (Ray) Birmingham is a great head coach and knows what he is talking about with hitting. His support staff as well with Buddy Goldsmith, Ken (Jacome), the pitching coach, and Tony Cappuccilli were all great coaches and had great team environment there...(on moving from California to New Mexico) It is definitely different. It was the best place for me to go play baseball. My best friend from high school, Jared Holly, went to New Mexico first. He was a sophomore there my freshman year and he helped me in a lot of ways to make the transition easier...(on transition from catcher to first base.)...i absolutely love it. Catching is rough, I respect those guys for being back there. Those guys grind and put their bodies on the line. Being at first is definitely a lot easier on the body... Absolutely not, I ve never done that before (on hitting for the cycle). I was just super happy to get the win and happy to contribute. (If cycle was in his mind after the triple) A little bit, but not much. I know (triples) are incredibly hard to get and I m not a big triples guy. I was just happy to get it done early and didn t have to worry about it. I m mostly happy we got the win. #34 Roman Collins OF Ht: 6 2 Wt: 210 Age: 23 B/T: L/L Lives: Boca Raton, FL LG: 2-for-5, R. 3B, 2SO Homestand: 2-for-7, R, 3B, 2BB, 4SO Notes: Drafted in the 5th Round of the 2015 June Amateur Draft by Kansas City out of Florida Atlantic Univ. Father played football at West Virginia University Notes: Hit walk-off RBI double in 15th inning vs. BC on 6/8. -Had three-hit game on FRE. Third three-hit game of the season. -Had 13-game on-base streak end on 4/20 vs. WS. -The streak was tied as the longest on-base streak on the team with D.J. Burt and was the fourthlongest in Carolina League at the time. -Tied for first with 15 doubles, tied for second with four triples, fourth on the team with five home runs and fourth on team in runs with 30. -Has posted a pair of eight-game hitting streaks this season. Posted two, nine-gamers in 2014 with Idaho Falls Notes: Spent the season between the Lexington Legends (Low-A/South Atlantic League) and Wilmington Blue Rocks (Adv. They said it: I had a blast in Australia. We ended up having a really good team and really good group of guys down in Melbourne, Australia. I had a really good time and got a lot better and made improvements... Living there was actually not as different as I thought it would be. There s a lot of US pop culture there so that wasn t much different. As far as baseball, there was actually a big difference. There s a lot of Japanese guys there so the style of play, especially the pitching is a lot different. There s a lot more splitters than change ups and I also saw a lot more soft throwing lefties which helped me out a lot... I played football growing up and I actually almost ended up playing football in college instead of baseball. I had a few more opportunities in football than baseball but baseball has always been my passion and it ended up working out... Definitely the fans. We have a good group of fans here and they like to come out and watch. I like it here. #7 Carlos Diaz INF Ht: 5 8 Wt: 145 Age: 24 B/T: S/R Lives: Carabobo, VZ LG: 0-for-1 Homestand: 0-for-1 Notes: Signed as a non-drafted free agent on September 18, 2012 by the Kansas City Royals Notes: Started the season with Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Double-A/Texas League) and Omaha Storm Chasers (Triple-A/Pacific Coast League) -Has hit a composite.222 at the two stops in 24 games. -In 21 games in Double-A he hit.200 with a double and five RBI. -In just three games in Triple-A he went 2-for-4. -Returns to Wilmington for second stint with the Blue Rocks Notes: Spent the season at three different levels including Wilmington, Northwest Arkansas and Omaha. -Hit.270 with eight doubles, 10 RBI and stole four bases in 73 total games. -With Wilmington hit.241 with seven doubles and drove in nine runs in 50 games. -Played in 17 games with Double-A Northwest Arkansas and hit.279 (12-for-43) -First stint in Triple-A Omaha he went 2-for-15 (.133) in six games Notes: Spent the season with the Royals (Rookie/Arizona League) and Idaho Falls Chukars (Rookie/Pioneer League) -Hit.293 between the two stops including.301 in 30 games in the Arizona League.

They said it: I definitely think it will be a good adjustment for me. I went through the whole first year struggling a little bit. I know the stadiums, the teams, maybe some of the same players are coming back. I think it gives me a little bit of an edge on other guys in the league. I m excited...honestly I went in there carefree. If I get out, it s supposed to happen because I m the guy from A-Ball so I took it the right way. I just went out there and felt comfortable and enjoyed myself. I honestly had no pressure on myself and that s the way I should play here too which is what I m going to try to do. It was enjoyable... The postgame spread was unbelievable. You get big leaguers buying the spread and it is steak and lobster for dinner which was very awesome. The field was incredible. There was a ton more fans I m not saying we have a bad fan base, but it s a step away from the big leagues and kids are going crazy for you. It was cool to be around older guys who have been there or guys that are close to being there. The league itself was very cool. I met one of my teammates from Virginia, Chris Taylor, he got traded to the Dodgers and we were playing them during the six games I was there and it was good to see him. It s a whole different atmosphere. There s 35-year-old guys pitching to you and you do one thing wrong and they know what that weakness it, they can repeatedly make that pitch so it definitely was a big jump but definitely awesome...it s definitely a big thing (playing near hometown). There s a lot of ups and downs, especially if you get homesick, which I haven t gotten that much in my career so far. It s definitely a blessing to have your family come out. Notes: Selected in the 33rd round of the 2015 June MLB Amateur Draft by Kansas City out of Concordia University-Portland (Portland, OR). Originally attended Oregon State University in 2012 before transferring Notes: Had career-high ten-game hitting streak snapped on 6/9 vs. BC. -Picked up his first multi-hit game of the season while throwing out a pair of base runners on SAL. -Collected first multi-rbi game of the season on BC -Leads team in caught stealing percentage (33%) Notes: Spent the season with the Burlington Royals (Rookie/Appalachian League) -Hit.317 with two home runs and 17 RBI in 29 games. -Did not commit and error behind the dish. (250 innings) -Threw out 28% of would-be base stealers Notes: Spent the season with the Royals (Rookie/Arizona League) and hit.250 with five RBI in 27 games. Made just one error behind the plate. They said it: I would say definitely attitude was huge for me. Learning how to take each at-bat at a time and move forward from the negative things and take the positives of each at-bat and that s helped me relax at the plate... No. Absolutely not. I never had seven RBIs before. It was really cool. I guess the coolest thing about it was that I had no idea how many RBIs I had until the game was over and my teammates were telling me. I think that s the only reason why it happened. If I went in to each at-bat saying I already have four, let me get another one RBI, it wouldn t have happened for me and messed with my attitude. I don t think it would ve been as successful as a game... I think that s the reason why I m here. I really pride myself on defense. I try to come out every day to run a pitching staff, keep the ball in front of me and not let runners advance. I think that s what I pride myself on the most... I don t have a specific catcher. I can give you one guy. I was a big Jorge Posada fan of the New York Yankees. Just the way he was so agile behind the plate and lanky. He wasn t a big stocky dude because I m not like that either, but I liked the way he moved behind the plate for sure... Definitely an energizer bunny for these guys, I think I provide a lot of energy on the field, in the bullpen or the clubhouse. Someone that can provide energy day in and day out because we all know the season can get long. #4 Jecksson Flores OF Ht:5 11 Wt: 145 Age: 23 B/T: R/R Lives: Cuidad Bolivar, VZ LG: 1-for-4, R, SO Homestand: 2-for-6, R, SO Notes: Signed as non-drafted Free Agent by Kansas City on July 21, Notes: Posted first, three RBI game on 6/18 (G2 vs. SAL) since 7/4/16. -Leads CL in sacrifice hits (11) -Swatted his first-career Class-A Adv.
