AGAINST THE WEST: The A s will play 23 of their first 26 games (the month of April) against American League West competition the exception is a three-game series at Kansas City next week the A s will host all four AL West teams this month and travel to each city except Seattle last year, the A s went (.382) against AL West competition, which was the third worst mark against divisional foes in Oakland history and the worst since 1997 (11-25,.306). Davis, Joyce, Plouffe, Rosales), which marks just the third time in the last 22 years the A s had five free agents make their Opening Day roster (also 1996 and 2011). TENURE: Of the 25 players on the A s Opening Day roster, only two played for Oakland prior to 2014 without playing for another team (Doolittle since 2012, Vogt since 2013) four other players played for Oakland prior to 2014 but have played for other teams in between: Santiago Casilla ( ), Rajai Davis ( ), Adam Rosales ( ) and Jed Lowrie ( , 16) Sean Doolittle has the longest uninterrupted tenure with the A s organization as he was selected in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft he is followed by Raul Alcantara, who was acquired from Boston on December 28, 2011, and Ryan Dull, who was drafted in ROOKIE AND VETERANS: The A s have three rookies on the Opening Day roster (Alcantara, Cotton, Montas) had one last year and five in 2015 seven players have six or more years of service: Madson (11 years, 155 days), R. Davis (9 years, 167 days), Casilla (9 years, 148 days), Lowrie (8 years, 111 days), Joyce (7 years, 123 days), Axford (6 years, 170 days) and Rosales (6 years, 163 days) those are the most players with six or more years of service on an A s Opening Day roster since the 2007 club also had seven.
