CRUSH CRUSHES; TREY TRIPLES: Wearing nicknames for Players Weekend, the O s scored a season-high 16 runs, the most on the road since August 17, 2008 at Detroit and the most at Fenway Park since June 11, 1993 Their 20 hits tied a season-high (5/16 at Detroit and 8/12 at Oakland) Crush (Davis) crushed his 21 st home run of the season and collected his 1,000 career hit while honoring mentor and Oklahoma head coach Skip Johnson on his thank you patch Trey (Mancini) tripled and drove in four runs, marking his second consecutive game with three or more RBI; first time in his career driving in three-or-more runs in back-to-back games. DRIVE EM IN: 2B Jonathan Schoop ranks second in the AL and ranks seventh in the majors with 94 RBI this season His 40 RBI since the All-Star break lead the AL and ranks second in the majors He leads second basemen in RBI, ahead of Daniel Murphy (81) and Robinson Canó (78). IT S A WALK OFF: Manny Machado hit a walk-off home run on Wednesday in the 12 th inning against the A's, giving the Orioles their ninth walk-off win of the season...machado also was at-bat for the Orioles last walk-off win, a game-ending grand slam five days earlier against the Angels...According to the Elias Sports Bureau, only one other player this season hit a pair of game-ending home runs within a seven-day span, and that player also did so against the Angels and A s with walk-off homers...steve Pearce hit a game-ending grand slam for the Blue Jays on July 27 against the A's and did so again three days later against the Angels Prior to Machado, only one player in Orioles history has produced multiple walk-off homers in a span of six or fewer days...fred Lynn hit a pair of walkoff homers for the Orioles in back-to-back wins over the Twins on May 10 and 11, WE SALUTE YOU: LHP Zach Britton s American League record of 60 consecutive save opportunities converted (October 1, 2015-August 21, 2017) was snapped on Wednesday...The streak was the second longest in Major League history, trailing only Eric Gagne s 84 consecutive from August 28, 2002-July 3, During the streak, Britton posted a 1.14 ERA (12 ER/95.0 IP) with 95 strikeouts...his ERA led the majors among pitchers with at least 15 games during this stretch...britton converted his 55 th consecutive save opportunity on July 23, 2017 to pass Tom Gordon and establish a new AL record...his 60 saves ranked tied for third in the majors during the stretch. PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Manny Machado was named American League Player of the Week for August He batted.385 (10-for-26) with a double, four home runs, and 12 RBI over six games played to earn his third career AL Player of the Week Award, last winning in June Among AL leaders, Machado finished the week first in RBI, tied for first in home runs, second in total bases (23), tied for second in extra-base hits (5), and ninth in slugging percentage (.885)...Machado posted a hit in each contest during his award-winning week and collected a three-homer game on August 18...His final home run on Friday was a walk-off grand slam...machado joined Tim Beckham (August 7) and Jonathan Schoop (July 2) for as the third player to win the weekly award this season.
