2 2010 SEASON REVIEW The 2010 season of Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Baseball was full of excitement, drama, heroics and much more. The Stadium was also home to over 350 other events in Regency Furniture Stadium was named ballpark of the year by the Atlantic League and the website digitalballparks.com.

3 2010 ATTENDANCE This past season over 247,000 fans passed through the turnstiles at Blue Crabs games. In excess of 750,000 fans have attended a baseball game or another event at the ballpark since the ballpark opened in 2008.

4 ON-FIELD SUCCESS In 2010, Southern Maryland Blue Crabs fans enjoyed the winningest club in the franchise s three seasons of play in the Atlantic League. In each of the last two seasons, the Crabs have clinched a playoff spot after just 70 games, by winning the Liberty Division First Half Title. Southern Maryland holds an all-time home record of in the friendly confines of Regency Furniture Stadium. A.603 winning percentage, which is the highest in the Atlantic League over the last three seasons.

5 COMMUNITY PARTNERS Despite the tough economic climate during over the past couple of years, the Blue Crabs were able to increase the amount of community partnerships by over 2%, including some high visibility and influential organizations throughout the region. This allows us to continue providing affordable family entertainment.

6 SCOUT NIGHTS The 2010 season saw another improvement in our popular overnight campouts for Boy and Girl Scouts. In 2009 nearly 1,100 scouts and their families took part in our campouts, but in 10 those numbers showed continued growth to over 1,500 scouts and families!

7 FOCUS ON EDUCATION Education continues to be a major point of emphasis for the Blue Crabs. At the forefront is our Pinch Onto Books reading program. Last season well over 6,500 children and their families from across Southern Maryland attended games as a result of this program. That s a total of over 27,000 additional books read outside of class curriculum! Other nights themed around education include: Games for Grades, Academic Achievement Night, Back To School Night and Teacher Appreciation Night.

8 EMPLOYMENT In 2010 the Blue Crabs employed over 225 full and part time employees, with payroll over $1.1 million.

9 CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS Through our various charitable efforts and programs, the Blue Crabs generated over $126,000 for non-profits in Causes such as Relay For Life, Center For Children, The College of Southern Maryland, Civista and dozens of schools and churches benefitted. This was in addition to our season-long support for the Civista Health Foundation.

10 CRABS IN THE COMMUNITY While Major League teams rely on the star power of million dollar athletes, our celebrity star power comes in the form of a big blue non-speaking spokesperson. Our loveable mascot Pinch is at the core of our marketing program. Last year Pinch and our ball players made over 250 community appearances, including school assemblies, baseball clinics and openings of new business in Southern Maryland.

11 AMATEUR ATHLETIC GAMES In 2010 The College of Southern Maryland baseball team used the stadium as their home field. In addition to CSM calling Regency Furniture Stadium home, District 7 Little League and CCYL used the stadium for over 100 games in 2010.

12 NON-TRADITIONAL USES OF THE BALLPARK A YEAR ROUND VENUE With a year-round calendar of events, the stadium is not only a ballpark, it s a conference center, wedding venue, movie theater and autocross race course just to name a few.

13 SMECO S ANNUAL MEETING This past year, a Southern Maryland summertime tradition, the SMECO Annual Meeting returned to the stadium for the second time. Over 2,200 area residents turned out to vote on board members and to learn about their electric co-op and rates. The event will return to the stadium in 2011.

14 PARKING LOT Even the parking lot at the stadium has become a business asset. This year in the lot we hosted The Center For Children s Touch-A-Truck event, driver s training by the county sheriff s department, car shows and even autocross motorsports events.
