Today the club closes out its season-long 10-day, 11-game road trip (4-6) with the rubber match vs. San Diego in the Mexico Series finale. Following their flight home tonight and an off day tomorrow, the Dodgers begin a six-game homestand against the Diamondbacks (two games) and Cincinnati Reds (four games) on Tuesday night next week. The Dodgers are 4-1 against the Padres this season, following a three-game sweep in San Diego from April Los Angeles outscored San Diego, 30-10, in that series. The 33-yearold has 264 career home runs, which ties him for 201 st on the all-time list, one behind George Bell, Brian McCann and Matt Stairs. Kemp s next hit will give him sole possession of seventh place on the L.A. Dodgers all-time list. His 1,218 hits are tied with Steve Sax for eighth. THE MONTERREY STRIP: With Dodger left-hander Rich Hill unable to come off the DL today, the club will once again turn to righthanded pitcher Ross Stripling, who is set to make his 18 th -career start today and second this season. Stripling started last Monday in Phoenix vs. the Diamondbacks and lost, giving up four runs on eight hits in 4.0 innings. In his career as a starter, Stripling is 3-7 with a 4.46 ERA (42 ER/84.2 IP) with a.261 opponents average against and 62 strikeouts. Stripling has appeared in 11 games this year out of the bullpen, allowing just one run in 15.1 innings (0.59 ERA), while striking out 17 and limiting the opposition to a.211 average. Stripling is 1-3 with a 5.06 ERA (13 ER/33.2 IP) in seven games (one start) in his career vs. San Diego. His only start against the Padres was April 30, 2016 (4.2 IP, 5 R. 7 H,). DUGIE DOES IT: Rookie outfielder Alex Verdugo is making a good first impression in 2018, hitting.320 (8-for-25) with four doubles, an RBI, two runs scored and two walks since being called up for the second game of last Saturday s doubleheader in San Francisco. The Arizona native and Mexican-American had four home runs and 15 RBI in 19 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City before his promotion.
