ON THE RECORD: Chicago is 8-1 in its last nine games, 11-2 in its last 13 contests and 12-3 in its last 15 games since May 25 the Cubs have won five-straight series and are in series of two or more games this season, including a mark at Wrigley. Chicago s.607 winning percentage is second-best in the N.L. (Milwaukee,.609) while its 24 setbacks are the fewest in the N.L. A TEAM EFFORT: Three Cubs have teamed up to save each of Chicago s last three games as Brandon Morrow saved Thursday s win vs. Philadelphia, Pedro Strop saved Friday s victory over Pittsburgh and Steve Cishek saved yesterday s win in fact, four pitchers have logged the team s last four saves, dating to Brian Duensing picking up last Sunday s save in New York. The Cubs previously used three pitchers to record saves in three-straight games, June 3-5 of last season (Wade Davis, Koji Uehara and Mike Montgomery). EXTRA, EXTRA!: The Cubs have recorded at least one extra-base hit in 94-straight games dating to August that s tied for the franchise s longest streak since at least 1908, as the team also had a 94-game run from May 5-August 15, Chicago s 202 extra-base hits this season rank third in the N.L., trailing only the Braves (215) and Dodgers (213). NOBODY BEATS THE RIZZ: Anthony Rizzo has 21 RBI in his last 20 games with an at-bat, and his 44 RBI this season rank tied for fifth in the N.L. Rizzo has batted.302 (38-for-126) with eight doubles, nine homers, 35 RBI, a.388 OBP, a.579 SLG and a.968 OPS in his last 34 games since May 1 after starting the campaign with a.149 average and a.448 OPS in his first 18 contests through April 30. Rizzo s 35 RBI since May 1 lead the majors while his.968 OPS in that span is sixth in the N.L. DYNAMIC DUO: Javier Báez is third in the National League with 46 RBI, and with Anthony Rizzo (44 RBI), the Cubs join the Braves (Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis) and Reds (Scooter Gennett and Eugenio Suarez) as the only N.L. clubs to have two players with at least 40 RBI apiece. WHAT S THE DIFF?: Chicago leads the National League and is third in the majors with a run differential of +95, trailing only Houston (+126) and Boston (+98) the Cubs 310 runs scored are second in the N.L. (Atlanta, 320), while their 215 runs allowed are second-fewest in the majors (Houston, 199). The Cubs were with a +21 run differential through May 6 since May 7, the Cubs have gone 21-9 with a +74 run differential, outscoring opponents during that stretch. WALK IN THE PARK: Chicago has drawn 145 walks in its last 31 games since May 6, good for an average of 4.7 free passes per game prior to this stretch, the Cubs averaged 1.6 walks per game in 11 contests from April 24-May 5 (18 walks total). Chicago s 240 free passes this season are second in the majors, trailing only the Yankees (244).
