Following today's games vs. the Tigers, the Sox will conclude the homestand with two games vs. the Cubs the White Sox will then take an eight-game trip to Wrigley Field (7/27-28), Minnesota (7/29-31) and Detroit (8/2-4). The White Sox went 1-5 on their last trip to Los Angeles-AL (0-3) and Seattle (1-2). Since owning the second-best record in MLB at on 5/9, the White Sox have gone TODAY'S STORYLINES Chicago is finishing a suspended game and playing a regularly scheduled game for the fi rst time since 4/26/15 vs. Kansas City. Since Matt Albers relieved Jacob Turner in the fourth inning on Friday night, relievers have worked 11.2 IP (including Albers' 2.0 IP as a starter in the suspended game). Jose Quintana is 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA (6 ER/19.0 IP), 1.00 WHIP and.191 opp. average over his last three starts he has received 12 runs of support during that span (5.68 RSA). The Sox are trying to avoid losing four consecutive series for the fi rst time since losing six straight from 5/9-29. This series has included four rain delays totaling four hours and 12 minutes the lengths: 2:05, 0:10, 1:14 and 0:43. ROSTER MOVES Prior to today s games vs. Detroit, the White Sox recalled RHP Anthony Ranaudo ( ran-aw-doh ) from Class AAA Charlotte. He takes the roster spot of LHP Chris Sale, who has been placed on the suspended list by the club. Ranaudo, who will wear uniform No. 45, has gone 5-3 with a 3.20 ERA (28 ER/78.2 IP), two complete games and 53 strikeouts over 13 starts with Charlotte he was acquired by the White Sox on 5/12 from Texas in exchange for RHP Matt Ball. SUSPENDED GAME RECAP Last night's game was suspended due to rain following the bottom of the eighth inning with Chicago and Detroit tied at 3-3. Tyler Saladino popped out to Miguel Cabrera with the gamewinning run on base to end the eighth Nick Castellanos hit a game-tying, RBI single off Nate Jones in the top of the frame. Matt Albers started the game and worked 2.0 IP after Chris Sale was scratched from his scheduled start. Avisail Garcia recorded a sacrifi ce fl y in the second and hit a solo homer in the fourth (No. 6) Dioner Navarro connected on a RBI double in the second. Albers, Dan Jennings, Tommy Kahnle, Jones and Zach Duke each pitched after also working on Friday night. THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME The White Sox last night suspended a game for the eighth time in franchise history the last time they had a game suspended was on 4/24/15 vs. Kansas City (resumed on 4/26/15). The Sox also suspended games in 1952 (twice; darkness), 1972 (curfew), 1973 (curfew), 1984 (curfew) and 2008 (rain). CSN Chicago will broadcast the conclusion of the suspended game, and WGN-TV will air the regularly scheduled game WLS-AM 890 and WRTO-AM 1200 will broadcast both games. "Q" LOVES STREAKING Jose Quintana is 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA (6 ER/19.0 IP), 1.00 WHIP and.191 opp. average over his last three starts by contrast, he went 0-7 in his previous nine outings from 5/14-6/28. C Alex Avila has been returned from his rehab assignment after reaggravating his strained right hamstring he is expected to miss at least four weeks before returning to the active roster. LHP Carlos Rodon is progressing on schedule from his sprained left wrist following 1-2 side sessions, he will make an injury rehab start before returning to the starting rotation. OF Austin Jackson underwent an MRI following his right meniscus surgery and is going to continue non-impact activity before beginning baseball activity he will miss several more weeks before returning. RHP Zach Putnam is likely to undergo surgery to remove bone spurs from his right elbow (return date TBD following surgery). WHITE SOX VS. DETROIT TIGERS The White Sox have lost six of eight games this season. The Sox are hitting.275/.336/.436 with fi ve homers, own a 6.64 ERA (45 ER/61.0 IP) and have been outscored, The Sox have lost six consecutive season series to Detroit for the fi rst time since (nine), going since The White Sox trail in the all-time series, 1,033-1,071 they are at home ( at U.S. Cellular Field) and on the road (73-73 at Comerica Park). CLOSE CALLS Fifty-one of the White Sox 96 games in 2016 have been decided by one or two runs, including 22 of the last of Chicago's last 22 wins have been by three runs or less.
