1 7 th Annual Dalton CRA Invitational Softball Tournament Rules TOURNAMENT LOCATIONS Pine Grove Park- Curtis Ave. Dalton, MA Fields 1 and 2 are located at Pine Grove as well as the Main Tent. This is where you will register for the tournament. Chamberlain Park- Chamberlain Ave. Dalton, MA Field 3 is located at Chamberlain Park Dalton American Legion- 258 North Street Dalton, MA Fields 4 and 5 are located at the Dalton American Legion. GENERAL TOURNAMENT RULES: 1. All teams are asked to be at the fields 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of each game. 2. All players must be on your signed roster and birth certificates that you should present at the Main Tent at Pine Grove Park at least 1 hour before your first game. 3. All games, except the championship game will have a 1 hour and 25 minute time limit. No new inning can start after the time limit. 4. The championship game will have a 2 hour time limit. 5. All games are scheduled for 7 innings. 6. Any game suspended will resume at the point where play stopped. Any game suspended after 5 completed innings will be deemed complete. 7. Each team should verify the score after each inning. 8. The home team must report the final score to field marshal at the concession stand. 9. With a forfeit, the winning team will record a 7-0 win and the forfeiting team will record a 0-7 lose. 10. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of 3 games. However if there is inclement weather, the tournament director reserves the right to shorten games or adjust the format or schedule in order to give us the best chance to finish the tournament during the weekend. 11. Awards will be given to the top 2 teams in each division. 12. The Town of Dalton fields are a smoke free facility. DUGOUT CONDUCT / SPORTSMANSHIP: 1. Any manager, coach, scorekeeper, player, or spectator using profanity or exhibiting inappropriate or unsportsmanlike behavior will be removed from park for that game. If the umpire and/or tournament director feels the behavior was serious enough, the person(s) will be asked to leave the park for the remainder of the tournament. 2. Only the following people (other than the players) are allowed in the dugout area: (1) Manager, (2) Coaches, and (1) Scorekeeper 3. Housekeeping Policy: You bring it in You take it out. Teams should pick up their own dugouts immediately following their game. 4. Tournament games will typically be back to back, so please vacate the bench area as quickly as possible for the next team coming in for their game. (After game coach s talks to the players can take place outside the bench area.)

2 GENERAL GAME RULES: 1. ASA Fast Pitch Rules will govern unless otherwise specified. 2. Team can elect to hit 10 hitters (Extra Hitter can ONLY hit) 3. The following rules and points of emphasis will supersede ASA guidelines: a. Coin Flip will determine the home team in the seeding rounds /round robin play. The better seed will be home in the elimination round. b. A Mercy Rule is in effect. Ø 15 Runs thru 3 innings Ø 12 Runs thru 4 innings Ø 10 Runs after 5 innings c. Once approaching the time limit, the 2 teams and the umpire should discuss at the beginning of the inning to decide if that inning is declared the final inning. d. You must have a minimum of 8 players on the field to start the game or the game will be forfeited. e. No limit on the innings pitched by any pitcher. f. Visits to the pitching circle: Ø A pitcher must be removed on the 4 th visit. Ø The visit to the circle to replace the pitcher does not constitute a visit. g. If a pitcher is removed from pitching, she can pitch later in the game, as long as she was not taken out of the game. Examples: If the pitcher is taken out of the game and put on the bench, she cannot go back in and pitch later in that same game. If the pitcher is removed from pitching, but remains in the game playing another position on the field, she could come back into the same game as a pitcher. h. Courtesy runners are allowed for pitchers and catchers. i. The HOME team will maintain the official score book. j. There is ABSOLUTELY no protesting of judgment calls by the umpire. A protest of a ruling on the field must be made before the next pitch. The protest committee will rule on the protest before another pitch is thrown. 10U SPECIFIC RULES: 1. Pitching rubber is 35 from the front of the rubber to the back of home plate ASA softballs will be used. 3. On a walk the batter is awarded 1 st base and cannot try to advance to 2 nd base 4. No dropped 3 rd strike rule. 5. No Infield Fly Rule
