Los Angeles went at home last year (.580), its best mark at Dodger Stadium since 2009 (50-31,.617). Last year, the Dodgers surpassed three million fans in attendance for the 27th time in club history and for the 17th time in the last 18 years, drawing 3,743,527 (46,216 average). It was the fourth-highest mark in franchise history and the 11th-best mark in NL history. Los Angeles has gone in home-openers at Dodger Stadium since 1962, including a 7-5 mark against the Giants. The Dodgers have won six consecutive home-openers since 2008, including wins over the Giants in 2008, 2009, 2011 and The Dodgers opened the 2014 MLB regular season with two wins over the Diamondbacks in Sydney, Australia before taking two of three games against the Padres in San Diego. The Opening Series in Sydney marked the first time the Dodgers played regular-season games outside of North America and the club s ninth official team trip abroad. YOU GOTTA BE HERE: Today s game launches Opening Weekend, presented by Bank of America, with festivities including a special ceremonial first pitch, the national anthem performed by the LA Opera trio of bass James Creswell, tenor Joshua Guerrero and bass Stephen Powell, a performance by the USC Trojan Marching Band and an aerial jump into the stadium by the U.S. Navy Leap Frogs parachute team. The Dodgers will have special guest public address announcers for all three games this weekend, with former Dodger broadcaster Ross Porter (today), actor Jason Bateman (Saturday) and television personality Mary Hart (Sunday). The club will host pregame concerts with Robin Thicke (Saturday) and Lupe Fiasco (Sunday). The latest round of stadium improvements will be on display this weekend, highlighted by the new outfield plazas with restaurants and bullpen overlooks, along with the Dodgers new Wi-Fi network. The Dodgers will welcome back former outfielder Raul Mondesi as part of Dominican Heritage at Viva Los Dodgers this Sunday. The family-friendly festival starts at 3:00 p.m. in Lot 6 and Mondesi, mayor of San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, will be holding a clothing drive to benefit his hometown. He will accept donations of gently-worn clothing and will sign autographs. Fans that bring a donation will be placed in a priority line for autographs. G00SE EGGS: Hyun-Jin Ryu enters his third start of the season unscored upon, after picking up the win with 5.0 scoreless innings on March 23 against the D-backs in Sydney and blanking the Padres through 7.0 innings in a no-decision in the club s domestic opener on Sunday. The 27-year-old has allowed just five hits (5-for-39,.128), posted a 0.75 WHIP and struck out 12 with just four walks in 12.0 innings. Ryu was especially good at home last year, where he went 7-4 with a 2.32 ERA (25 ER/97.0 IP), the eighth-lowest home ERA among big league starters (min IP). Dodger starters have keyed the team s hot start, combining to go 4-0 with a 0.91 ERA (3 ER/29.2 IP) through five games.
