The Sox are 4-1 on the trip, sweeping a three-game series from Minnesota (two runs allowed) before splitting the fi rst two games of this series. Following today's game, the White Sox return to Chicago for a seven-game homestand vs. the Angels (4/18-21) and Texas (4/22-24). The Sox have just one off day in April (4/12) they play 17 of their fi rst 27 games on the road and 33 of their fi rst 42 outside the AL Central division. TODAY'S STORYLINES The White Sox are 8-3 for the fi rst time since 2005 and are looking for their best 12-game start since 1991 (9-3). At 7-2, the Sox are off to their best road start since 2012 (7-2) their last 8-2 start away from home came in Chicago is tied with Baltimore and Kansas City for the best record in the American League. The White Sox have spent 10 days in fi rst place, two more than their combined total from Jose Quintana is 3-0 with a 1.70 ERA (9 ER/47.2 IP) and 41 strikeouts over his last six starts dating back to 9/5/15. Brett Lawrie is hitting.375 (9-24) with two doubles, one home run and three RBI during his six-game hitting streak. LAST NIGHT'S RECAP Tampa Bay hit three home runs and ended the White Sox fi ve-game winning streak with a 7-2 victory. John Danks suffered the loss, allowing fi ve runs on six hits over 6.1 IP. Brett Lawrie collected two of the Sox seven hits, including a two-run homer off Steve Geltz (No. 1) to cut the defi cit to 4-2. Adam Eaton (2-4) recorded his sixth multihit game. PITCHING PROWESS The White Sox lead the American League in ERA (2.51), bullpen ERA (1.73) and opponents average (.199) and rank second in quality starts (8) and road ERA (2.16). The Sox have held the opposition to one or no runs in fi ve of their 11 games Chicago's 2.02 ERA through 10 games was its lowest since 1972 (1.56) and the 10th-lowest mark in the majors since 1994 (Elias). ROAD REVIVAL The White Sox are 7-2 on the road after starting 2-12 in 2015, 2-6 in 2014 and 0-5 in 2013 Chicago's nine road games this season are the most in the major leagues. The Sox are off to their best road start since 2012 and are looking for their fi rst 8-2 start away from home since Chicago ranks second in the American League with a 2.16 ERA (19 ER/79.0 IP), holding opponents to a.189 average (54-285) while allowing one or no runs in fi ve of the nine games. QUALITY IN QUANTITY The White Sox have made 1,165 quality starts since the start of the 2003 season, the second-highest total in the major leagues behind the Mets (1,169). The Sox rank second in the American League with eight quality starts this season after leading the league with 98 in 2015, their highest total since 2003 (also 98). Jose Quintana (T2nd, 26) and Chris Sale (T2nd, 25) rank among the AL leaders in quality starts since LEADOFF MAN Adam Eaton is hitting.366/.409/.463 through his fi rst 10 games, compared to.143/.163/.190 at the same point in Eaton became the fi rst White Sox player since Nellie Fox in 1955 to open the season with four consecutive multihit games. He has reached base safely in 30 of his last 32 games dating back to 9/9/15, hitting.366 (48-131) with a.432 on-base percentage and a.920 OPS. ALBERS ON A ROLL Matt Albers has thrown 28.1 consecutive scoreless IP over his last 25 appearances dating back to 8/5/15, both the longest active streaks in the major leagues. During his career-best streak, Albers has gone 1-0 with 10 holds, 22 hits allowed, six walks and 21 strikeouts his streak is the longest by a Sox pitcher since Jesse Crain threw 29.0 IP over 29 outings from 4/17-6/22/13. WHITE SOX VS. TAMPA BAY The Rays evened the season series at 1-1 last night after the White Sox posted a 1-0 victory on Friday. The Sox are hitting.200 (13-65) with a 3.71 ERA (7 ER/17.0 IP) and have been outscored, 7-4. Chicago went 1-5 against the Rays in 2015 (0-3 at Tropicana Field) four of the six games were decided by one run. The Sox lead the all-time series, they are at home and at Tropicana Field. NO REST FOR THE WEARY The White Sox are in the midst of a stretch where they play 19 straight games until their next scheduled day off on 5/2. Chicago has one scheduled off day in April, tied with Arizona for the fewest in the major leagues by comparison, the Mets (six) and Kansas City (fi ve) have the most off days in April. LATOS IN SELECT COMPANY RHP Mat Latos is 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA (1 ER/12.0 IP) and four hits allowed through his fi rst two starts with the White Sox. According to Elias, Latos is just the sixth pitcher since 1913 to win each of his fi rst two starts for the Sox with an ERA under 1.00 he joins Morrie Martin in 1954 (0.52), Harry Byrd in 1955 (0.57), Frank Baumann in 1960 (0.00 ERA), Jack Lamabe in 1966 (0.00) and Ken Brett in 1976 (0.00 ERA). ABREU MAKES HISTORY Jose Abreu ( ) and Albert Pujols ( ) are the only players in major-league history to record 30-plus home runs and 100-plus RBI in each of his fi rst two seasons. Abreu batted.290 with 30 homers and 101 RBI last season after hitting.317 with 36 and 107 as a rookie in Pujols accomplished the feat in each of his fi rst 10 seasons Before the streak ended in JACKIE ROBINSON DAY The White Sox will celebrate Jackie Robinson's legacy on 4/22 vs. Texas as part of the celebration, Andre Loving the winner of the 2016 Black History Month video essay contest will throw a ceremonial fi rst pitch. Loving is a student at Percy L. Julian High School, and his video will be played on the video board at U.S. Cellular Field. PROGRAMMING NOTES The White Sox game on 5/5 vs. Boston has been switched from CSN to CSN+ as a result, both games of the doubleheader on 5/23 vs. Cleveland will be televised by CSN. HONORING EDDIE The White Sox will honor sports broadcasting legend and long-time club executive Eddie Einhorn by wearing an Eddie patch on their uniform sleeve during the 2016 regular season. Einhorn, who passed away on 2/23 from complications involving a stroke at age 80, was the team s president and chief operating officer from AT THE HELM Robin Ventura is in his fi fth season as White Sox manager owns a (.463) record Ventura has managed 659 games with the Sox, 10th-most in franchise history he was a fi nalist for American League Manager of the Year in MILESTONES WITHIN REACH Melky Cabrera: 52 hits for 1, doubles for 300.
