Colorado has dropped four straight games vs. the American League going back to the finale at Minnesota on May 18. Postgame, the Rockies will depart for San Diego play a three-game series at Petco Park Friday- Sunday before an off day Monday return to Coors Field Tuesday for a two-game Interleague set vs. Cleveland. PACK YOUR BAGS The Rockies are in a stretch of 15 out of 20 games away from home (May 16-June 4) and also 22 out of 29 on the road (May 16-June 14). Colorado has a total of nine home games in June. TAKE IT SERIOUS The Rockies were swept in two games by the Mariners Monday and Tuesday, their third series loss of the season and the first time being swept the loss Tuesday snapped their streak of nine consecutive series without a series loss, which tied a franchise record (May 21-June 21, 2007) had not lost a series since April vs. Washington. The Rockies have won 12 of 17 series overall this year with two splits. THEY CAME FROM THE WEST The Rockies last played the Mariners in 2015 and went 3-3 (1-2 at Coors Field, 2-1 at Safeco Field). Rockies Manager Bud Black was drafted by Seattle in the 17th round of the 1979 First-Year Player Draft and made his Major League debut for the Mariners Sept. 5, 1981 vs. Boston he attended Mark Morris High School in Longview, Wash., and Lower Columbia College in Longview. Rockies Bench Coach Mike Redmond was born in Seattle and attended Gonzaga Prep before attending Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. Redmond currently resides in Spokane with his family in the offseason. HEY, BLOGGER NERDS Since being outscored over the final three contests vs. Washington April 24-27, the Rockies have scored 167 runs compared to 127 for opponents the Rockies run differential of plus- 33 ranks fourth in the National League. JUST NAZTY Tuesday, Charlie Blackmon was named National League Player of the Week for the period ending May 28 after batting.400 (12-for-30) with six runs, one double, one triple, three home runs, 12 RBI and one stolen base in seven games last week it is the fifth Player of the Week honor that he has received in his career. Blackmon is tied for the Major League lead in hits (73) and leads the Majors in triples (8), RBI (46), and total bases (139) is tied for first in extrabase hits (32) he also leads MLB in RBI with runners on base (40), RBI with runners in scoring position (37) and RISP with two outs (20). For May, he hit.359 (42-for-117), second in the NL and sixth in the Majors his 22 RBI during the month tied for fifth in the NL. Among MLB center fielders, he ranks first in runs (39), hits, triples, RBI and extra-base hits he is second in batting average (.327) and slugging percentage (.623). Acquired: Selected first Round 2014 First-Year Player Draft FOR STARTERS A native of Denver, who graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, the rookie will be making his 11th career Major-League start, sixth on the road and first-ever appearance vs. the Seattle Mariners.
