Pre-game coverage begins at 6:45pm on 920 AM The Jersey and online Eastern League Standings 2.x East Division W L GB Streak New Hampshire L2 Trenton W1 Binghamton W2 Hartford W2 Reading W1 Portland W2 West Division W L GB Streak Akron L1 Richmond L1 Harrisburg L2 Harrisburg L2 Bowie W1 Erie W1 THUNDER CLAPS: DON T FEED THE SQUIRRELS: Thunder pitching has been stingy against the Flying Squirrels this season, holding Richmond hitters to a.172 batting average over eight games. Of the 12 active position players on Richmond s roster, all but one (Miguel Gomez,.364) are batting.261 or below against Trenton pitchers in The Flying Squirrels team average of.242 is tied for the secondlowest in the Eastern League, just nine points ahead of the Thunder s.233 mark. NOT ENOUGH: Saturday s game marked just the seventh time this season that the Thunder lost despite outhitting the opposing team. Trenton is 22-7 when outhitting its opponent, and just two of the previous six losses in such games came on the road. -27 DON T WALK: In his double-a debut, which was also his first appearance for the Yankees organization, left-hander Reiver Sanmartin retired 12 of the final 14 batters he faced over his five scoreless innings. In relief, Domingo Acevedo retired the last nine of the 10 batters he faced, and neither of the two men walked a batter, marking the fifth consecutive game in which Trenton pitching has walked two or fewer batters. BIG DAY AT THE BAY: Friday s win saw the Thunder set new single-game season highs in home runs (3) and extra-base hits (7). Trenton s 13 hits also came within two of its season high. Ryan McBroom led the way with three hits in his 2018 Thunder debut, while four others collected two hits each. THOU SHALT NOT STEAL: Since joining the Thunder on May 22 after beginning the season with high-a Tampa, catcher Francisco Diaz has thrown out four of six attempted base stealers. As a team, Trenton has greatly improved its control of the running game, with four catchers combining for a respectable caught-stealing percentage of 31% (20-for-64) this season. SO CLOSE: Nine of the Thunder s last 13 games have been decided by final margins of two or fewer runs, with the Thunder winning just three of the nine games. Despite the recent losses, Trenton has succeeded overall in close games this season, including posting a 13-8 record in one-run games. Trenton has played the most one-run games in the league (21) and holds the 2 nd best win percentage at.619 (Binghamton.692).
