Seven players on the active roster were not on the 40-man roster at the beginning of spring training: Peterson, OF Peter Bourjos, RH Jumbo Díaz, RH Tommy Hunter, C Derek Norris, C Jesús Sucre and INF Rickie Weeks Jr. RAY MATTER After a 5-2 opening homestand the best 7-game start in Rays history the Rays were swept in 3 games by the Yankees this week it was the first time the Rays were swept by the Yankees since April 17-19, 2015 at home (3 games) and the first time at Yankee Stadium since Sep 7-9, 2009 (4 games) the 3-game losing streak comes on the heels of a 3-game winning streak during the 5-2 homestand, the bullpen went 2-0 with 3 saves and a 1.64 ERA (22-IP, 15-H, 5-R, 4-ER, 7-BB, 16-SO, 1-HR) during the series in New York, the bullpen went 0-2 with a ERA (6-IP, 12-H, 11-R, 8-ER, 4-BB, 2-SO, 3-HR) the Rays blew leads in each of the last 2 games, turning a 3-0 lead into an 8-4 loss on Wednesday, and a 2-1 edge into a 3-2 loss last night the Rays have 4 errors on the road trip in 3 games, compared to 3 errors in 7 games on the homestand. The last time the Rays first road trip of the season brought them to New York and Boston was 2005, when they went 1-4 (0-3 at BOS, 1-1 at NYY) under Manager Lou Piniella.
