Central. BEST BULLPEN RESIDES IN K.C.--The Royals bullpen completed the four-game series with Detroit, allowing just one run (in the eighth inning of Friday s 4-1 victory) on six hits in 12.0 innings of work as seven different relief pitchers worked at least one inning over the weekend...kc s bullpen leads the Major Leagues in ERA (1.00), allowing just nine earned runs in 80.2 innings of work through 25 games, while the club is also tops in opponent batting average (.154) and allowed the second-fewest hits (42)... even with two-time All-Star closer Greg Holland out the past two weeks, the Royals haven t missed a beat as Wade Davis has converted all five of his save opportunities, while Davis (10.0 innings), Jason Frasor (9.0 innings), Holland (4.0 innings) and Yohan Pino (10.2 innings) have all yet to allow a run this season. RECORD CROWDS OVER THE WEEKEND--Last weekend s four-game series vs. the Tigers drew 143,609 fans to Kauffman Stadium, with the final three games selling out...it marked the seventh-largest attendance figure for a four-game set in Kauffman history, while it s the largest since the stadium underwent renovations prior to the 2009 season...also, it was the earliest in the season that the Royals have drawn 120,000-plus fans to a series of any length, and last weekend s attendance was a full 25% higher than any other four-game series since 2009, with the previous highs coming August 12-15, 2013 vs. Boston (114,283) and the same dates in 2010 vs. the Yankees (114,235)...fans have been packing the park all season as 402,553 people have come through the turnstiles here, up 146,782 from last year s total through 13 home games (255,771). 4 This & That GOOD FORTUNE ON CINCO DE MAYO--Kansas City will look to continue its recent good fortune on Cinco de Mayo, having won three of the last four seasons on May 5, with the lone loss coming last season in 13 innings at San Diego (6-5)...prior to last year, the Royals won three-straight on the anniversary of the Mexican army s victory in the Battle of Puebla, with a 6-5 win over the White Sox in 2013, a 5-1 triumph over the Yankees in 2012, and a 9-1 rout of the Orioles in ROYALS TO DEBUT LOS REALES JERSEYS IN JULY--The Royals announced today that the club will debut a specialized jersey with their Spanish name Los Reales on the front for their game against the Houston Astros on Saturday, July 25...two-time All-Star catcher Salvador Perez and catching coach Pedro Grifol showed off the new threads at a news conference this afternoon...a t-shirt replica of the Los Reales jerseys were handed out to fans for tonight s game, the first T-Shirt Tuesday promotion of the season. (.349), hits (260) and has struck out the fewest times (141)...the Royals are also fifth in the Majors in slugging pct. (13), behind only the Rays (7) and Tigers (10). BETTER LATE--Much like their two-out offensive numbers, Kansas City has been clutch late in games this season, leading the Majors with a.305 batting average in the seventh inning or later...the Royals scored all four of their runs Sunday after the sixth inning ended and have tallied the third-most runs in baseball (48) from the seventh inning on, compared to just 12 by their opposition...individually, Eric Hosmer ranks eighth in the American League, batting.387 (12-for-31) late in games, with four doubles and a triple for a.581 slugging percentage, while Lorenzo Cain and Kendrys Morales have each collected seven RBI from the seventh on, which are tied for sixth-most in the A.L.
