1 Houston Astros (70-41) vs. LOS ANGELES DODGERS (61-50) RHP Lance McCullers (10-6, 4.06) vs. RHP Kenta Maeda (7-6, 3.48) Saturday, August 4, :10 p.m. PT Dodger Stadium Los Angeles, CA Game 112 Home Game 58 (30-27) Night Game 80 (44-35) TV: SNLA; SNLA Spanish Radio: AM 570 (English)/ KTNQ 1020 AM (Spanish) JUST KEEP GRINDING: The Dodgers will continue their sevengame homestand (2-3), as they look to bounce back and will play the middle game of the three-game Interleague weekend series tonight against the American League West s Houston Astros for a 2017 World Series rematch. Following last night s 2-1 defeat to the Astros, Los Angeles had its two-game winning streak snapped and are currently tied with the Arizona Diamondbacks for first place in the National League West. After the weekend set, the Boys in Blue will have a scheduled off day on Monday and then will head out to Oakland (August 7-8) and Colorado (August 9-12) for a six-game road trip. The Dodgers dropped their fourth consecutive regular season game to the Astros dating back to the 2015 campaign, when Houston swept Los Angeles in a three-game series at Minute Maid Park. Despite the losing streak, the Boys in Blue have held the upper hand against the Stros at Dodger Stadium, posting a all-time record at the Ravine, including winning 10 of their last 14 matchups in Los Angeles. According to Stats LLC., it was the first time that World Series participants from the previous season entered a series with both teams in first place, excluding the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals matchup, which opened the 2016 season against each other. The Dodgers are 6-5 in Interleague play this season, including posting a 5-3 record at Dodger Stadium. Los Angeles has posted a (.636) record since the beginning of June, which is the best winning percentage in the NL over that time. CLARK KENTA: Tonight, the Dodgers will send right-hander Kenta Maeda to the mound for his 19 th start of the season, which ranks second on the club, behind only Alex Wood (22). Maeda, who is looking to record his eighth win of the year, last pitched on Monday against the Brewers and gave up four runs on seven hits and struck out four over 4.2 innings as he recorded the loss. Despite having rough outings in his last two starts, the Japan native has been solid in his last 11 starts since May 17, going 4-3 with a 2.76 ERA (19 ER/62.0 IP), limiting the opposition to a.198 average and striking out 72 batters against 22 walks. As a starter this season, he is averaging strikeouts per nine innings (116 K/97.0 IP), which currently ranks sixth among National League starters (13 th in Majors) with 15 or more starts. Maeda will face the Astros for the first time in his career during the regular season, but made four relief appearances during the Fall Classic last year, allowing just one run over 5.2 innings (1.59 ERA) and held Houston hitters to a.227 average (5-for-22). Despite his 4-5 record at Dodger Stadium, Maeda has been solid at home this season posting a 3.20 ERA (18 ER/50.2 IP), limiting batters to a.245 average and punching out 62 batters against 20 walks over 50.2 innings in 11 games (10 starts). LEAD IT OFF: Dodger outfielder Joc Pederson belted a leadoff home run for the second consecutive game last night, driving in the first and only run for the Dodgers against the Astros. Pederson, who collected his eighth career leadoff homer and the fifth of the season (T-2 nd, MLB), became just the second Dodger hitter all-time to hit a leadoff home run in back-to-back games, joining Carl Furillo, who accomplished the feat on July 12 and 13, 1951 (source: Stats LLC). The Dodgers have now hit nine leadoff longballs this year, which is the most ever in a single season in Dodgers history and currently ranks second most in the Majors in 2018, trailing just the Cardinals (10). The lone home run last night increased the Dodgers National- League leading home run total to 155, which is 15 more than the Colorado Rockies in the NL and is second most in the Majors behind just the New York Yankees (175). Los Angeles also leads the National League in at bats/home run (24.35), home runs per game (1.40) and extra-base hits (374). STREAK NO MORE: After not reaching base last night (0-for-4), Dodger infielder Manny Machado had his career-high on-base streak snapped at 33 games. During the run, which started on June 27, he slashed.328/.427/.566 with 17 runs, six doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 15 RBI and five stolen bases. In 15 games with the Dodgers, Machado is hitting.250 (15-for-60) with two homers, five RBI and a MATCHUP vs. ASTROS Dodgers: T-1 st, NL West (2.0 GA) Astros: 1 st, AL West (5.0 GA) All-Time: LA leads series, ( at Dodger Stadium) All-Time Interleague: ( at Dodger Stadium) 2018 Interleague: 6-5 (5-3 at Dodger Stadium) 2018 vs. HOU: LA trails series, 0-1 (0-1 at Dodger Stadium) Aug. 3 at LA: L, 1-2 W: Verlander L: Wood S: Rondon QUITE THE COMBO: The Dodgers lead the National League in both ERA (3.45) and home runs (155), something very few teams have accomplished in the last 30 seasons: Teams to Lead League in Home Runs & ERA Last 30 Seasons 1992 Atlanta Braves (NL) 138 HR, 3.14 ERA 1993 Atlanta Braves (NL) 169 HR, 3.14 ERA 1995 Cleveland Indians (AL) 207 HR, 3.83 ERA 2013 Atlanta Braves (NL) 181 HR, 3.18 ERA 2018 Los Angeles Dodgers (NL) 155 HR, 3.45 ERA *The Dodgers last accomplished this feat in SOURCE: STATS, LLC SHUT IT DOWN: The Dodger bullpen, which is currently tied with Colorado for the most saves in the National League with 36, has been solid in their last 30 outings since June 30, posting a 2.76 ERA (29 ER/94.2 IP) while holding the opposition to a.167 average to go along with 112 strikeouts. He has also struck out 11 batters against just two walks, while posting a 0.56 WHIP. THE BULL DOZIER: Despite going 0-for-1 in last night s contest, newly acquired second baseman Brian Dozier continues to make quite an impression on Dodger fans, as he has gone 5-for-10 (.500) with four runs, two doubles, two home runs and five RBI in three games with Los Angeles. Dozier has reached base safely in 22 of his last 29 games since the beginning of July, batting.270 with 23 runs, eight doubles, seven home runs and 26 RBI along with a.857 OPS during that span. During that span, he leads the Majors in on-base percentage, while ranking among the best in the big leagues in batting average (3 rd ), slugging percentage (2 nd ), OPS (2 nd ) and home runs (T-7 th ). Grandal has been tremendous at Dodger Stadium this season, slashing.308/.426/.575 with 10 homers, 28 RBI and a OPS. Since July 1, Grandal is slashing a ridiculous.486 (17- for-35)/.617/1.000 at Chavez Ravine.
