Beginning this past Thursday, the Rockies play 30 of their final 48 games vs. National League West opponents, including 10 (eight remaining) vs. the Dodgers and seven against Arizona. Colorado is in the midst of a stretch of 17 consecutive games before the next off day on Monday in Houston. JUST MEET THE OBJECTIVE Colorado won last night s game 5-4 despite going 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position it was the second time in franchise history that the Rockies won while going 0-for-13 or worse with runners in scoring position (went 0-for-16 with RISP and won 4-3 in 12 innings vs. Cincinnati, Aug. 24, 2008) it was the first time this season that a Major League team went 0-for-13 or worse with runners in scoring position and still won (last: April 22,2017, St. Louis, 0-for-14 RISP, 4-1 win at Milwaukee). Nolan Arenado was removed from the game in the bottom of the fifth inning with right shoulder soreness. WIDER VIEWS The Rockies snapped a three-game losing streak last night have gone since June 28 (.639), the fourth-best winning percentage in MLB and the second-best winning percentage in the NL. Over that span, the Rockies have posted a 3.67 team ERA (321.1 IP, 131 ER), the third-lowest ERA in the NL. Rockies starters have a 3.43 ERA (218.0 IP, 83 ER) over that span, the fifth-lowest in MLB and secondlowest mark in the NL. The innings pitched by the Colorado starters this season are the third-most in the NL. LIKE HE ALWAYS HAS Carlos González has batted.324 (71-for-219) since May 27, the seventh-highest batting average in the NL ranks fourth in the NL in runs (47) over that span. Is hitting.294 (30-for-102) vs. left-handed pitching this season since July 2, is 13-for-31 (.419) with three home runs vs. left-handed pitching, the second-highest lefty/lefty batting average in the NL over that span. Acquired: Selected first Round 2014 First-Year Player Draft FREE RIDE Second-year southpaw and University of Evansville alumnus is a native of Denver who graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Selected by Colorado in the first round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft (eighth overall), the third player in University of Evansville history to be drafted in the first round. A member of the Opening Day roster for the second consecutive season after making his debut in 2017 earned his first win and recorded his first hit in his Major League debut in the Rockies Home Opener on April 7, 2017 vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers.
