THE OLD JACK IS BACK--Joakim Soria continued his 2017 resurgence with a eighth inning here on Friday night, recording three ground balls, to earn his second victory of the year...soria, who re-signed with the Royals prior to last season the possessor 161 saves in a Kansas City uniform, has been scored upon in just two of the 16 games he s performed in this year, posting a 2.16 ERA, while fanning 24 in 16.2 innings. THE LAND OF HOZ--Eric Hosmer has flipped the script from the early days of 2017, reaching base on four occasions last night, going 2-for-2 with a double and pair of walks...the 3-time Rawlings Gold Glove first baseman was hitting.185 after play on April 22, but has since batted.403 (29-for-72) in his last 19 games to up his season mark 114 points to.299 entering today s action...in those 19 games he has an on-base pct. of.450 and slugging pct. of.569. CAIN TRAIN ROLLING AT THE PLATE--Lorenzo Cain was 1-for-3 with a double and sacrifice fly last night, as he s now hit safely in nine of his last 10 games at a.389 clip (14-for-34) with eight runs, fourth thefts and an on-base pct. of cain s season average had dropped to.253 prior to this stretch, but he s raised it 40 points to.293 entering today...he has also continued his new patient approach at the plate walking four times in this stretch and upping his season total to 20 which are good for a tie for seventh in the American League...he is already just 17 free passes shy of matching his career-high of 37 set during the title year of FS 1 ON THURSDAY--The second of nine Royals games on FS 1 will be next Thursday night when this homestand concludes with a 7:15 affair against the Yankees...
