1 BARRINGTON YOUTH BASEBALL & SOFTBALL DIAMOND NEWS SAME GREAT WEBSITE TWO NAMES! SPRING 2006 SEASON PASS IT ON! LETTER FROM PRESIDENT TOM LAUE The 2005 Season was quite possibly our best yet. More than 1500 boys and girls participated in BYB&S programs for the year a new record!! We hope to make 2006 better still with some changes to our program offerings. The new Rookie League (T-Ball) is designed to teach fundamentals to Kindergarteners (age 5 and 6). This program will offer both boys and girls the chance to learn about our sport and the basic skills that go with it. The A Ball League will be for 6 and 7 year old boys in 1st grade. A Ball will follow the old AA League format with coach pitch only. The AA League (for 8 year olds) will change to include some kid pitch opportunities in the second half of the season. The Colt League is a new program for 15 and 16 year olds who do not play on the BHS summer league teams. Fundraising remains a top priority here at BYB&S not only for the addition of new fields and the maintenance and improvement of our existing facilities, but also to minimize the registration fees for our players. BYB&S has not increased its base registration fees for many years (we believe the last increase was in 1995). The Board is considering a fee increase for 2006 to offset the increasing cost of insurance, uniforms and equipment, and other basic elements of our programs. We welcome your comments as we consider this action. As a wise man once said, All good things must come to an end. The 2006 season will be my final year as President of BYB&S. I have truly enjoyed my years at the helm, and I hope we have accomplished some good things for BYB&S and the Barrington Community. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to improve the bat and ball experience for you and your children. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments regarding our programs. I look forward to seeing you around the ball fields.
