Mondesi also chipped in an RBI triple in the fourth during a stretch where the Royals collected four extra-base hits in a five batter span...mondi matched a career-high with four RBI, while Gordon and Brett Phillips each drove in a pair of runs. TRANSACTIONS GALORE--Earlier today, the Royals traded veteran catcher Drew Butera to Colorado in exchange for minor league hurler Jerry Vasto...A 26-year-old lefty, Vasto had been with Colorado s Triple-A affiliate, Alburquerque, for the majority of this season, going 2-1 with a 3.16 ERA (13 ER in 37. IP) in 37 relief appearances...he made his big league debut on June 1, pitching 2/3 inning vs. Arizona...following Wednesday s game, KC sent first baseman Lucas Duda to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations...to take the vacated spots on the 25-man roster, the club recalled catcher Cam Gallagher from Omaha (AAA) and returned outfielder Brian Goodwin from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the disabled list today. MONDI FLYING HIGH--Adalberto Mondesi is enjoying quite the homestand, after collecting a triple, a homer and four RBI in Wednesday s victory...mondi homered in consecutive games for the first time in his career, also going deep on Tuesday vs. Detroit, becoming the second KC shortstop to do that prior to his 24th birthday, joining Kurt Stillwell (May 17-19, 1988)...after taking an -for-3 a week ago to start the stand, the 23-year-old is 6-for-his-last-11 (.545) with five RBI, five runs scored and three extra-base hits in his last three contests. MLB GOES GOLD TO FIGHT CHILDHOOD CANCER--The Royals along with the rest of Major League Baseball will done gold ribbon decals and writstbands tomorrow evening as part of MLB s third annual Childhood Cancer Awareness Day in recognition of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month...the effort is a partnership between MLB, its member clubs and Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) to raise awareness of the disease which affects an estimated 3, young people every year...during the next homestand, current members of the Royals as well as alumni will visit children at the University of Kansas Health System.
