COUNT TO ZERO: Last night, Phillies pitchers combined to throw their Major League-leading ninth shutout of the season in their 78 th game (11.5%), two more than they had during the entire 2015 season (7 SHO) The nine shutouts are Philadelphia s most through the first 78 games of a season since 2011 when they posted their ninth shutout in their 67 th game (13.4%, 4/1-6/6) That year, with their four aces (Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Oswalt), the Phillies threw 21 shutouts with a 3.02 staff ERA, the lowest of any ML club since the 1989 Dodgers (2.95) Philadelphia won a franchise-best 102 games in SETTING THE TABLE: Odubel Herrera (4 H) and Peter Bourjos (3 H) combined for seven of the Phillies season-high 16 hits last night, which were the most out of the top two spots in the batting order for Philadelphia in a single game since June 28, 2015 (Herrera 3, Hernandez 4) Through the first seven games of this three-city road trip, the two speedsters have combined to hit.436 (24-55) with 3 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 2 SB and 13 runs scored Bourjos leads all Major League players with a.519 (14-27) average since June 21 st (min. 20 PA) He has raised his season average from.217 to.259 in those seven games (+42 points). HOT TO TROT: Since June 21 st (7 G), Philadelphia ranks 2 nd among all ML teams in hits (82) and extrabase hits (32), 3 rd in average (.320), 4 th in runs (44), OBP (.376) & OPS (.910), 5 th in SLG (.539), and 6 th in runs per game (6.29) The Phillies have posted double-digit hit totals in five of the first seven games of their road trip after having zero in their previous 14 games (6/6-20, 37 R, 2.64 RPG) From June 14-20, Philadelphia batted.171 (38-222) with a.209 OPB, both worst in MLB They scored three runs or fewer in each of those seven games with a 1.7 RPG average. DOWN ON THE FARM: It wasn t your typical Monday evening in the Phillies minor league system year-old right-hander Adonis Medina took a no-hitter into the 9 th inning for single-a Williamsport against the Auburn Doubledays before finally surrendering a one-out single to Daniel Johnson He was then removed from the game after throwing 99 pitches (1 BB, 2 HBP) Through three starts this season, Medina has yet to allow a run in 21.0 innings (6 H, 6 BB, 9 SO)... At double-a Reading, Jake Fox hit a solo HR in the bottom of the 9 th inning to give the Fightin Phils their 11 th walk-off victory of the season Dylan Cozens went 2-for-4 with 4 RBI in the game, including his 20 th home run, making Reading the only team in professional baseball to have two players with 20 or more HR this season (Rhys Hoskins, 20 HR) With the dramatic victory, Reading improved to (.701) on the year, the best record in pro ball Lastly, Ben Lively suffered the loss last night for triple-a Lehigh Valley, ending his 23-start undefeated streak (7/19/15-6/22/16) The streak was the second longest of its kind in professional baseball over the last two seasons, trailing CHI s Jake Arrieta by only one start (24 GS, 20-0, 7/30/15-5/31/16) Lively went 11-0 with a 3.11 ERA (47 ER, IP) during his streak between Reading and Lehigh Valley.
