JUNGMANN EARNS FIRST VICTORY IN SHUCKERS SHUTOUT: Taylor Jungmann took a shutout into the seventh inning in game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday night, and the Biloxi Shuckers came away with a 3-0 victory over the Jacksonville Suns Jungmann entered the seventh with a bid to become the first Shuckers pitcher to record a complete game during the 2016 season. The right-hander induced a groundout off the bat of Chris Curley, but sandwiched a single around two walks to load the bases and give way to Stephen Kohlscheen. Biloxi s closer struck out Ronnie Mitchell and Peter Mooney to end the game and secure the win. Dustin Houle made his Double-A debut in the opener and made an instant impact, giving the Shuckers the lead in the second inning. Dustin DeMuth started the frame with his fifth consecutive hit, a single to right, to put the leadoff man on board. Gabriel Noriega bounced into a double play to bring Biloxi within an out of coming away empty. Tom Belza and Javier Betancourt kept the inning alive with back-to-back base hits, bringing Houle to the dish for his first atbat with the Shuckers. The 22-year-old banged a single to center, scoring Belza without a play. Betancourt hustled his way into third, and an errant thrown by Alex Glenn from center caromed off the base runner, allowing Betancourt to score the second run. Biloxi (14-23, 53-53) extended its lead to three with a sacrifice fly in the fourth to plate DeMuth, who had singled to start the inning. Game two was postponed due to rain, creating a twin bill on Wednesday. TODAY S STARTING PITCHERS: LHP Wei-Chung Wang makes his 19th start of the season for Biloxi in Game 1. The native of Taitung City, Taiwan is coming off of a 2-1 July with a 3-2 record to go along with a 2.43 ERA (10er/37ip), with 32 strikeouts to seven walks. The Shuckers have gone 10-8 when the 24-year-old takes the mound, including wins in five of his last seven outings. RHP Brandon Woodruff makes his 14th start of the season for the Biloxi Shuckers. The 23-year-old is in the midst of a 24.1 scoreless inning streak. Through the month of July, the Wheeler, Miss. native went 3-1 with a 0.29 ERA (1er/30.2ip) with 42 strikeouts and only five walks, while posting a WHIP of The Shuckers have gone 6-7 when Woodruff starts. THE KID GETS IN DONE IN JULY: INF Javier Betancourt had arguably his best month of the season during July. In 20 games, the Shuckers youngest player (21-years-old) hit a season-high.364 (20x55) with a homer, 11 RBI (tied season-high), set a season-high with four doubles, tripled and stole a base. The right-handed hitting infielder drove his average up from.198 to.233, the highest mark since ending May with a.236 clip. MID-SUMMER BLUES: Biloxi suffered its third consecutive losing month after going in July. Since ending April with a 16-6 record, the Shuckers have gone With three losing months this year, the Shuckers now have four such months in team history. The only sub-.500 month for Biloxi during its inaugural 2015 campaign... July (13-15). TURNING KOHL INTO A DIAMOND: RHP Stephen Kohlscheen earned his 15th save in 16 chances in Tuesday s win over Jacksonville. The six-year veteran as a 1.19 ERA (2er/15.1ip) over 15 games in the second half, going 9-for-9 in SV opportunities. Overall in 38 games, Kohlscheen is 2-3 with a 2.09 ERA. PROSPECTING: Five of Milwaukee s top-30 prospects, according to MLB.com are on the Shuckers active roster. 12 Manager, Mike Guerrero COACHING STAFF Guerrero, 48, spent two seasons as the Brewers First Base Coach and Infield Coach, joining them in Guerrero has managed at every level in the Minor Leagues, going (.536) over 18 seasons, with all but one season coming with the Milwaukee Brewers organization. He last served as Manager for two seasons at Triple-A Nashville in , prior to joining the Major League coaching staff. In 2013, Guerrero earned the Mike Coolbaugh Award, presented to an individual who has shown an outstanding baseball work ethic, knowledge of the game and skill in mentoring young players on the field. Guerrero began his Managing career in the Blue Jays organization in 1995 in the Dominican Summer League. He won the 2001 Dominican Summer League championship and qualified for the playoffs five times (1995, 2000, 2001, 2007, 2009). Coach, Sandy Guerrero Guerrero, 49, enters his 14th season as a coach in the Brewers organization. Prior to joining the Shuckers in 2015, he coached at Double-A Huntsville ( , 2014) and Triple-A Nashville ( ). In addition, he spent two seasons as Hitting Coordinator from Guerrero served as Manager for the Northern Division in the 2007 Southern League All-Star Game after scheduled Manager Don Money pulled out of the contest to coach in the All-Star Futures Game. Before coaching, Guerrero had a 19-year playing career that included stints in the minors with Toronto and Milwaukee. He also played professionally in Mexico, Taiwan and the independent Northern League. The former infielder played in the Brewers farm system with Class-A Stockton ( ), Double-A El Paso ( ) and Triple-A Denver ( ). In 1998, Guerrero won a league championship in Taiwan, claiming the batting title with a.361 batting average. Sandy and his wife, Jessica, reside in Huntsville, Alabama. Pitching Coach, Chris Hook Hook, 46, is in his ninth season in the Brewers organization. He served as Pitching Coach at Double-A Huntsville the three seasons prior to joining Biloxi in Hook originally joined the organization as pitching coach at Huntsville in 2008, and spent three seasons in the same role with Class-A Wisconsin from before returning to Huntsville ( ). In 2015, he served as a pitching coach for the U.S. squad during the All-Star Futures Game in his hometown of Cincinnati. In 2014, he served as Pitching Coach with the Glendale Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League. Prior to joining the Brewers, Hook was the Pitching coach for the Florence Freedom of the independent Frontier League from He also spent three seasons as the pitching coach for Northern Kentucky University from Hook was a pitcher for 11 professional seasons ( ), including two years in the Major Leagues with San Francisco from He went 5-2 with a 5.89 ERA in 55 career Major League games. Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by Cincinnati in 1989, he also pitched in the minor leagues with San Diego, San Francisco, California and Houston. He finished his playing career in the independent Atlantic League.
