PITCHING AN ENIGMA The Rays allowed only 6 runs in the 5-game road trip, good for a 1.21 ERA (44.2-IP, 6-ER), after allowing 16 runs in the last game of the homestand Tues vs. WAS this was their fewest runs allowed in any 5-game stretch since April 20-24, 2013 (also 6) they achieved this even though the bullpen threw the same number of innings as the starters (22.1) the bullpen yielded 2 ER (0.81 ERA) and the starters allowed 4 ER (1.61 ERA).
