Greg Holland finished things off from the hill, working a perfect ninth for his league best 42nd save of the year...kc entered the homestand with a 2-game lead in the division, but open play tonight one game worse off as Detroit has crept to within one, but the Royals are two up in the loss column. KC RETURNS TO 16 OVER--The sweep of the Rangers afforded the Royals the opportunity to return to a season-high 16 games over the.500 mark, the third time that Kansas City has been this far above breakeven...the Royals enter tonight in a position of controlling their own destiny with 23 plus the suspended game to play, compared to a season ago, when KC was with 24 remaining, 8 1/2 games out in the A.L. Central and 4 1/2 games shy in the Wild Card chase...since July 22, the Royals have posted a Major League best record and turned an 8-game deficit in the Central into their current 1-game lead...the sweep of Texas gave Kansas City its 11th series win out of the last 13 played, with the club taking sets in Chicago, vs. Oakland (home and road), Minnesota (two at home and one on the road), at Arizona, at Texas, vs. San Francisco and winning a series at home vs. Cleveland before dropping the lone set in this span to the Tribe last weekend...the only series split was a 2-game stop in Colorado.
