2 WHO IS THE SFGSL? The San Francisco Gay Softball League, founded in 1970, is the longest established gay softball league in the country. San Francisco Gay Softball League is a LGBT softball league committed to providing an organization for LGBT and non-lgbt participants in an environment conducive to the LGBT community. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, SFGSL relies upon member dues, sponsorship contributions and fundraising activities to operate. In addition to the benefits you receive from your contribution, you are helping this organization continue to provide a high quality experience for its members. We had active members participating in our 2017 Spring and Fall seasons. Many of our Spring season teams have been together for years and act more like families, hanging out before and after games and bringing family and friends along with them. 3 FANS, MEDIA & SEASON SCHEDULE FAN BASE Our fans come from all walks of life. The primary demographic for the SFGSL is and continues to draw more friends and family. Each team brings their own group of family and friends to support their efforts. It ends up being a social event as players and fans go out for a bite to eat or a drink afterwards. Most of our fans are part of the LGBT community but our fan base continues to diversify. SOCIAL MEDIA We have Facebook fans which allows us to stay directly connected with our membership. Our social media presence allows us to communicate directly with our members and encourage participation from everyone. SEASON SCHEDULE The league plays from March until July on Sundays spread among five different fields in the city of San Francisco. The SFGSL is divided into two divisions, the Open Division (Co-Ed) and the Women's Division. With 60+ teams in the spring, each team plays a 14 game schedule. The top teams in each division earn a berth to compete in the North American Gay Amatuer Athletic Association (NAGAAA) and Amateur Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA) World Series which are hosted by a different member city each year. The 2018 NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series is in Tampa Bay, Florida and the 2018 ASANA World Series is in New Orleans, Louisiana.
