Los Angeles is a season-high seven games over.500 and its five-game winning streak is the club s longest of the season. The club will have a travel day tomorrow as it embarks on a seven-game road trip to Pittsburgh (4) and Milwaukee (3). Los Angeles is looking for its fourth series sweep of the season (third at home) and first over the Nationals since July 19-21, 2013 in D.C. The Dodgers haven t swept Washington at home since April 27-29, The Dodgers have won 13 of their last 16 home games. Since the Nationals relocated to Washington in 2005, they have the lowest winning percentage of any National League club at Dodger Stadium with a.265 mark (9-25). The Reds have the second-worst record at (.282). Los Angeles has won its last four one-run games, improving to overall in those contests. THE LONG BALL: The Dodgers have homered in a season-high 12 consecutive games since June 10, marking the first time the club has done so since May 23-June 4, 2002 (also 12). The Dodgers haven t homered in 13 or more games since 2001, when they had a 13 (July 13-25) and 14-game (June 10-26) home run streak. Los Angeles leads the National League with 31 home runs this month, two ahead of Washington. WAKING UP THE BATS: The Dodgers have averaged 4.7 runs per game through the first six games of their homestand, powering 21 extra-base hits (11 doubles, 10 home runs) and going 13-for-32 (.406) with runners in scoring position. Justin Turner saw his eight-game hitting streak come to an end last night, but is still batting.328 (20-for-61) with three doubles, seven homers and 16 RBI in his last 16 games since June 4. Howie Kendrick has hit safely in seven of his last eight games, batting.375 (9-for-24) with two doubles, a homer and two RBI since June 13. Joc Pederson reached base three times last night, going 2- for-2 with a double and a walk, and is batting.353 (12-for-34) with eight runs scored, two doubles, five homers and six RBI in his last 10 games since June 12. Chase Utley is still sitting on 999 career runs scored. With his next run, Utley will become just the 13 th active player to score 1,000 career runs and the first to cross that milestone in a Dodger uniform since Devon White on May 5, ROST ROUNDUP: The Dodgers today claimed right-handed pitcher Layne Somsen from the New York Yankees and transferred right-hander Chin-hui Tsao (right triceps strain) to the 60-day disabled list. Somsen, 27, appeared in two games with Cincinnati this season (5 /2.1 IP) in his first big league action and has combined to go 1-0 with a 1.44 A, a.149 opponents batting average and a 1.00 WHIP in 14 minor league appearances this year at Triple-A with the Reds and Yankees affiliates. The South Dakota native has gone 10-5 with a 2.42 A in 90 games (seven starts) in four minor league seasons in the Reds ( ) and Yankees (2016) organizations and was originally selected by the Reds in the 22nd round of the 2013 First- Year Player Draft out of South Dakota State. Brandon McCarthy (Tommy John surgery) is expected to continue his rehab tonight against Round Rock and pitch 4.0 innings with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
