2 Grand Slam Fall League 2018 Baseball League Mission & History MISSION 2018 is the 21 st year of the Grand Slam High School Fall League. Throughout the years, the league has grown from 4 teams in the first year of the league to 12 teams in There were also a few years that saw the league grow all the way to 16 teams. This league has always been founded on the principals of providing high school aged baseball players the opportunity to grow as baseball players through practice, games, and quality, professional instruction. LAST YEAR The 2017 High School Fall League crown belonged to Benn Stockton and the Marlins was a very interesting year as it had the most rainouts in league history and it affected the entire duration of the Playoffs. This was the first year, since the adaption of the playoff format in 2010, that playoff games were not able to be played out. Stockton and his crew went 6-1 throughout the Regular Season and earned the #1 overall seed headed into the Playoffs. It then rained for three consecutive weekends and gave the Marlins the League Title. 22 Grand Slam Fall League Official Rules - All Iowa High School Baseball Rules apply except for run rules. Those will be handled at the coaches discretion. - No more than 6 pitches between innings. - Each team will consist of no more than 13 players. - Each team will play at least 6 games (rainouts), 8 official games are scheduled (7 regular season and one playoff game). There is a potential to play 11 games. - In the event of rainouts in the Playoffs, the first scheduled round of games for that weekend will be skipped and the higher seed will advance. - 9 innings of play or minimum 2 hour and 15 minutes. There is no maximum time limit, but that will be handled at the coaches discretion. *There will be no time limit for the Playoffs and games will be 7 innings in length. - All players on the Fall League will hit. - If a game is tied at the end of 9 innings in the regular season, the tie breaker will go to whichever team scored the most runs first. Example: Team 1 scored 3 runs in the second inning and Team 2 scored 1 run in the second inning, Team 1 would receive the win. - 2 certified umpires will be present at each game. - 1 certified Head Coach per team. - All field decisions are made by each individual site s Board of Directors and they will have the final say in determining whether games are played. Grand Slam does not make any final decisions on games being played. - In the event of a rainout we will attempt to reschedule games, given field availability. We cannot guarantee each rainout will be made up, but we will do everything in our power to get them made up (double headers/push regular season back a week.) - Check our website, Facebook, or Twitter for decisions made on rainouts. We will have information regarding those specific situations posted on all platforms by 10am. Please do not call.
