They are also 7 games below.500, the most below that watermark during the 2017 campaign. Beloit s longest losing streak of 2016 was 7 games between August 3-9 with the first 3 games at the hands of Kane County at Pohlman Field. SWEEPS IN 4: Beloit will try to avoid a 4-game sweep against Kane County on Monday afternoon. The Snappers have been swept 3 times this season, all in 3-game series on the road. The closest call in a 4-game set was against Quad Cities at Pohlman Field near the end of the First Half when the River Bandits took the first 3 games, but Zack Erwin & Xavier Altamirano held Quad Cities to 2 hits in a 1-0 Snappers victory. Beloit has not been swept in 4 games at Pohlman Field since May 20-23, 2011 & it was the Cougars to last complete that feat. CLOSE GAMES: After a 10-9 decision on Sunday, the Snappers & Cougars have each played 31 onerun games which is the highest total in the Midwest League. The Snappers have played 56 games this year decided by 3 runs or fewer & they are in those contests. TAKE 5: Beloit s bats broke out for 9 runs on Sunday to equal their run total from their previous 7 games. They also reached 5 runs for the first time in 9 games. The Snappers are 27-7 this season when they score at least 5 runs in a game. When the Snappers & their opponent both score 5 runs, Beloit is 9-7. DIAZ CARRYING THE LOAD: Edwin Diaz matched a career-high 4 RBI on Sunday that included an insidethe-park home run in the 6th inning, his first homer since June 10. Diaz is now 8-for-his-last-18 with 4 extra-base hits over his last 5 games. SWIPING SNAPPERS: Mike Martin & Luis Barrera have stolen 5 bases each in the month of July, the most by any 2 teammates in the Midwest League this month. The Snappers 55 steals are the fewest in the league, but they lead the league outside of the state of Indiana (South Bend with 17 & Fort Wayne with 13) in steals this month. Only Fernando Tatis Jr. has more stolen bases in the MWL during July than either Martin or Barrera after he swiped 3 bags on Sunday to run his total to 6. 1 Snappers vs. Cougars 2017 Record in Beloit in Kane County 2-3 Current Streak L Record 6-11 Athletics Affiliation Game Logs Date Site Score Win/Loss/Save 4/17 KC L 2-1 (11) Mason/Altamirano 4/18 KC W 6-5 Milburn/Vargas/Highberger 4/19 KC L 1-0 (17) Smith/Nowlin 4/27 KC W 9-1 Jordan/Atkinson/Sawyer 4/28 KC L 5-3 Winston/Damron/Mark 4/29 KC PDD - Make up 4/30 4/30 KC PPD - DH, make up 5/15 & 17 5/15 BEL L 8-5 McWilliams/Jordan/Mark 5/15 BEL L 11-3 Mason/Martinez 5/16 BEL W 8-2 Bowers/Aker 5/17 BEL W 7-6 Damron/Taylor/Zambrano 5/17 BEL Canceled 7/7 BEL L 5-1 McWilliams/Twomey 7/8 BEL L 2-1 Poche/Milburn/Clark 7/9 BEL L 10-9 Vargas/Altamirano/Winston 7/10 BEL 7/26 KC 7/27 KC 7/28 KC TODAY S STARTING PITCHER: Zack Erwin will take the baseball to start for the Snappers on Monday afternoon. The southpaw is coming off a career-high 7 strikeouts, for the 3rd time, despite taking the loss on July 5th at Peoria in 1-0 defeat at Dozer Park. Beloit had won his first 5 starts this year. Erwin has never faced the Cougars in his career, but has pitched against the Diamondbacks High-A affiliate (Visalia on June 4, 2016) & Rookie affiliate (Missoula on July 4, 2015). FACING THE COUGARS: Beloit & Kane County have played the most one-run games in the Midwest League with 5 of them in head-to-heads. Kane County holds 8 of the Diamondbacks top-30 prospects with pitchers Curtis Taylor (#12), Mack Lemieux (#20), Wei-Chieh Huang (#25), & Tyler Mark (#29) along with hitters Jazz Chisholm (#3), Anfernee Grier (#9), Marcus Wilson (#21), & Jose Herrera (#23).
