Arrieta s 1.71 home ERA ranks fourth in the N.L., while teammate Kyle Hendricks ranks second with a 1.36 ERA and Jon Lester is fifth with a 1.99 mark the Dodgers Clayton Kershaw leads with a 1.31 ERA at Dodger Stadium. Chicago tonight aims to win its fourth-straight home series dating to July vs. Texas (2-1) following that series, the Cubs took two-of-three from the Mets at home before starting this homestand with a two-game sweep of the White Sox. MATUSZ MAKES SEVEN: The Chicago Cubs are expected to select Brian Matusz prior to tonight s game for a start against the Mariners he ll be the seventh hurler to make a start for Chicago this season just four teams have used fewer starters this season: the Blue Jays (6), Cardinals (6), Giants (6) and Mets (6). HAVING HIMSELF A SEASON: Kyle Hendricks on Tuesday allowed his first three earned runs of the month, going 5.2 innings his season ERA rose from 2.27 to 2.39, still good for third-lowest in the majors behind the Dodgers Clayton Kershaw (1.79) and the Giants Madison Bumgarner (2.09). Hendricks has won a career-high nine games, and he s increased his win total in each of his three seasons from 7-2 in 2014, 8-7 last season and 9-6 this year. THAT S A DYNAMIC DUO: Kris Bryant is tied for second in the N.L. with 26 home runs while teammate Anthony Rizzo is sixth with 24 homers Bryant s 26 homers equal the amount he hit during his 2015 N.L.
