Despite the 12-1 blowout victory over Seattle yesterday afternoon, Los Angeles remained in third place in the National League West, 2.0 games behind the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks. Since the beginning of June, the Dodgers have posted a.594 (41-28) winning percentage, which is the highest mark in the National League during that span. Following the three-game matchup against St. Louis, the Boys in Blue will have a scheduled off day on Thursday and then will welcome the San Diego Padres for a weekend series to close out the homestand. The Dodgers are at home this season and since the beginning of July, they have won 10 of 17 games at Dodger Stadium. SEEING RED: The Dodgers will face the St. Louis Cardinals for the first time this season after taking the 2017 season series, 4-3. Despite losing the last two contests against the Cardinals, Los Angeles won two of the three contests at Dodger Stadium last year and have come up victorious in four of its last six games since the beginning of the 2016 campaign against the Red Birds at the Ravine. According to Stats LLC., over the past eight seasons since 2011, the Dodgers and Cardinals have been one of the two most dominant teams in the Majors: Most Wins in MLB Since 2011 Los Angeles Dodgers St. Louis Cardinals New York Yankees Washington Nationals Boston Red Sox Despite being against the National League Central this season, the Dodgers have won seven of their last 10 games against NL Central opponents. WOOD WORK: The Dodgers tonight will send left-handed pitcher Alex Wood to the mound for his team-leading 24 th start of the season and his second outing since returning from the disabled list. In his last start on Tuesday against the Giants, Wood allowed just one run on three hits and struck out six against one walk over 5.0 innings as he recorded a no-decision. In his last 10 starts since June 16, the southpaw has been light s out going 6-1 with a 2.43 ERA (16 ER/59.1 IP) and holding hitters to a.219 average. During that span, he has punched out 47 batters against 18 walks, has posted a 1.11 WHIP and has made seven quality starts. In two career games (one start) against the Cardinals, Wood has posted a 2.45 (2 ER/7.1 IP) and has limited the opposition to a.192 average (5-for-26). The North Carolina native last faced the Red Birds on May 15, 2016 in his first career start against the club, as he allowed one run (solo home run) on three hits and struck out five over 6.0 innings as he did not factor in the decision. On the year, Wood is 7-6 with a 3.51 ERA (50 ER/128.1 IP) and has struck out 113 batters against 31 walks. He has held hitters to a.241 average, while posting a 1.15 WHIP, which is the 12 th lowest among qualified NL starters. In 17 August games, Dodger starters are 5-2 with a 2.55 ERA (29 ER/102.1 IP) and have limited the opposition to a.198 average. The starters have posted the lowest ERA, opponents batting average, opponents OPS (.594) and WHIP (1.02) in the National League during that span. SWIPING BAGS: The Dodgers stole a season-high five bases in yesterday s contest against the Mariners courtesy of Chris Taylor (2), Yasiel Puig (2) and Brian Dozier. The five stolen bases yesterday was also the most since the club stole seven bags on June 3, 2017 at Milwaukee. Los Angeles has now stolen 24 bases this month, which is the most in the Majors in August, five more than the Tampa Bay Rays. The club has posted a 92.3% stolen base percentage in August, as they have only been caught stealing twice in their 26 attempts. Turner also extended his season-high hitting streak to 13 games yesterday, which is currently the longest active streak in the Majors, with a single in the second inning. Since being reinstated from the disabled list on August 2, Turner has been unstoppable, reaching base safely in all 15 games and batting.439 (25-for-57) with 15 runs, six doubles, one triple, four home runs and 10 RBI along with a OPS. He has collected eight multi-hit games in those 15 games, including recording two or more hits in seven of his last 10 contests. During his big league leading hitting streak, Turner is slashing.462 (24-for-52)/.525/.788 with 12 runs, six doubles, one triple, three home runs and eight RBI since August 4. Bellinger also extended his career-high hitting streak to 12 games yesterday and is just one shy of Turner for the longest active streak in the Majors. Bellinger has posted a.431 (25-for-58)/.507/.621 slashline with nine runs, two doubles, three home runs, 15 RBI and five stolen bases in 17 games in August. That.431 average and.507 on-base percentage both trail Turner for the best in the league this month and his OPS ranks fifth in the National League. During his career-high hitting streak, which started on August 5, Bellinger is slashing.468 (22-for-47)/.528/.638 with seven runs, two doubles, two homers, 10 RBI and four stolen bases.
