1 INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS GAME NOTES OSTE UPDATE: Joining the Indians on a major league rehab assignment is P Chad Qualls... In 52 relief appearances for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Qualls is 2-1 with a 5.42 EA... Qualls has spent the past eight seasons in the major leagues, pitching for the ouston Astros, Arizona Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay ays and San Diego Padres... Also rejoining Indianapolis is SS Chase d Arnaud... d Arnaud spent a short stint with the Pirates but did not play... In his past eight games for the Tribe, d Arnaud has batted.640 (16-for-25) with two doubles, three home runs, five BI, 11 runs scored and three stolen bases TODAY S TIBE STATE: Major league P Chad Qualls makes a rehab start with the Indians... This is the first Triple-A action of the season for Qualls, who is 2-1 with a 5.42 EA in 52 relief appearances for the Pittsburgh Pirates... Qualls has not made a start since the 2004 season as a member of the New Orleans Zyphers, at the time the Triple-A affiliate of the ouston Astros... That was also his most recent minor league experience... Qualls has never pitched for Indianapolis and has never faced the Bats TODAY S BATS STATE: P Tim Gustafson makes his 18th start for Louisville... With the Bats, Gustafson is 5-6 with a 5.72 EA... e also made seven starts and 14 appearances for the Double-A Pensecola Blue Wahoos and is 7-8 overall with a 5.72 EA in In his most recent start, 8/31 at Columbus, Gustafson took the loss on just 2.2 innings pitched, allowing eight hits (one home run), seven earned runs and three walks while striking out one Clippers batter... Gustafson also lost his most recent start against the Indians, on 7/1 in Louisville, tossing just 4.0 innings with five hits (three home runs), five earned runs, three walks and three strikeouts OFFENSIVE OUTPUT: The Indians got at least one hit from all but one of thier position players in Sunday night s win... Six batters also picked up at least one BI and seven scored at least one run... Despite the offensive explosion, the Tribe s 11 runs and 16 wins both fell well shy of the team s season-high in each category... Indianapolis scored 16 runs on 6/11 against the ochester ed Wings and recorded 21 hits on 8/2 at ochester against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees LONGBALL LUNA: 2B ector Luna went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, three BI and three runs scored in Sunday night s win... It was Luna s first home run with the Indians and 14th this season in the minor leagues... e also had two big league home runs with the Philadelphia Phillies... Luna has had multiple hits in each of his three games with Indianapolis, going 8-for-14 (.571) with a double, a home run, five BI and five runs scored DOUBLE YOU PLEASUE: LF Jeff Larish went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three BI and a run scored... Larish now has 13 doubles and 24 BI on the season...
