After starting 8-16 in their first 24 games, the Gnats have gone in their last 30 and 14-5 in their last 19 contests to get back to even. The Gnats (27-27) scored the game's first three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Right fielder Wuilmer Becerra began the rally with a hard double. After a 3B Eudor Garcia single, first baseman Jon Leroux singled to right to bring home Becerra. Vicente Lupo lined a single to right-center to plate Garcia with the second run. Leroux scored the third run of the inning on a CF Patrick Biondi's bunt single on the right side of the infield. Greenville (31-23) answered back with two runs, one of which was unearned in the top of the fifth inning. With the win, the Gnats moved four games behind the Drive for first place with 16 games to play in the first half. Savannah reliever Ricky Knapp picked up starter Matires Arias with five innings of relief to earn his first win of Knapp struck out five and allowed just one unearned run to lower his ERA with Savannah to The Gnats added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to complete the game's scoring. With two outs, Biondi doubled down the right field line and then scored on shortstop Luis Guillorme's clean single into right. SAND GNATS STARTER: RHP Scarlyn Reyes will make his ninth start of the season tonight. Reyes earned three wins in a row after picking up his first on 5/4 vs. Lakewood. The native of the Dominican Republic has tossed 6.0+ IP in five of his eight starts this season. CASEY AND CASEY: RHP Casey Delgado (2-0) picked up his second win in just his second appearance with the Gnats. Delgado earned the win in his very first day as a Sand Gnat. Delgado set a new team-high with seven strikeouts in relief and tied the team high with innings pitched in relief (4.0). RHP Casey Meisner (5-1, 1.93) earned his fifth win of the season after tossing a career-high 8.1 innings and allowing just one run, which came in the ninth inning. The 6 7 right hander pitched seven innings and allowed just four hits and two runs (both earned) in his previous start against Asheville. Meisner set a season-high with ten strikeouts in his previous start against Rome. Meisner has made several solid starts including his perfect 6.1 innings on May 8th. The Cypress, Texas native faced the minimum 19 through 6.1 innings, when Greenville 1B Cisco Tellez ripped a single to right field. Meisner ranks 6th in the SAL with a 1.88 ERA. THREES COMPANY: 3B Eudor Garcia, 1B Jon Leroux, and CF Patrick Biondi were all 3-for-4 on 6/4 vs.. Each player scored a run. Leroux and Biondi each had an RBI. DOUBLE TROUBLE: Wuilmer Becerra doubled last night on giving him a teamleading 14 on the year, which ranks him tied for third in the SAL. Becerra also hit a solo-shot on 6/2, his 6 th, which places him tied for 6 th in the SAL.
