Chicago is 7-1 in its last eight games vs. the Cardinals, all coming at Wrigley Field, and today aims to sweep multiple home series against St. Louis in the same season for the first time since 2006 (3-0 April 7-9 and 4-0 July 27-30) the Cubs earlier this season swept the Cardinals in a three-game set here, June 2-4. Following today s game, the Cubs enjoy tomorrow off before beginning their final trip of the regular season, a 10-game swing at the Rays (two games starting Tuesday), the Brewers (four games starting Thursday) and the Cardinals (four games beginning Sept. 25). The Cubs current five-game winning streak comes on the heels of a three-game skid Chicago is 7-6 in its last 13 games following a season-high tying six-game winning streak from August 28-September 2. Yesterday s victory secured Chicago s third-straight winning campaign dating to 2015 this is just the third stretch of at least three-straight winning campaigns for Chicago in the last 78 seasons starting in 1940 that includes a six-year run from and QUINTANA ON THE HILL: José Quintana today makes his 12th start for Chicago since he was acquired from the White Sox, July 13 he s allowed three or fewer earned runs in nine of his 11 starts, including each of his last three outings he is 6-2 with a 2.62 ERA (16 ER/55.0 IP) in those nine outings in which he s allowed three or fewer earned runs.
