Old Dominion leads the all-time series, First of two meeting between the Flames and the Monarchs this season. The two teams will met again next Tuesday in Norfolk, Va. Liberty and Old Dominion have met on the baseball diamond in 16 out of the past 18 years and 2011 were the only seasons the two teams did not meet. Liberty is 14-5 (.737) at the new Liberty Baseball Stadium and have a (.674) at home under head coach Jim Toman. Liberty enters the week, hitting.283 with runners in scoring position. Liberty s game against West Virginia on Sunday completed a stretch of eight games in nine days for the Flames. Liberty catcher Trey Wimmer was added to the Johnny Bench Award Watch List, the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission announced this past Tuesday. The award honors annually the nation s top collegiate catcher based on athletic ability, sportsmanship, team leadership and character. With a record last season, Toman s Flames have now posted the school s top two single-season win totals in program history. The 2010 Flames set the school record for wins with a campaign. The Flames have notched a overall record during his fi ve seasons on Liberty Mountain and have also posted an Big South mark over the span. Along with their second 40-plus win season in, the Flames set school records for team ERA (3.04) and shutouts (11). Toman saw seven players from his Flames squad selected during the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft, the most players chosen in a single draft in the 39-year history of the program. The number ties the 2007 and 2010 Coastal Carolina squads for the Big South Conference record for players picked in a single draft. The impressive strides made by the program have not gone unnoticed. In December, Rivals.com selected Toman as one of 10 Collegiate Head Coaches on the Rise, while in November of 2010, Rivals cited Liberty as one of college baseball s top 10 rising programs. Toman was named the sixth head coach in the history of the Liberty Baseball program in June 2007, after 11 seasons as the senior member of Ray Tanner s coaching staff at South Carolina. Toman worked a total of 18 years alongside Tanner, dating back to the 1990 season at N.C. State. During his time at South Carolina, Toman served as recruiting coordinator and coached the catchers. Known as one of the top recruiters in college baseball, the 22-year college coaching veteran was named the 2002 Baseball America/ American Baseball Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year. Before joining the Gamecock staff in 1996, Toman served under Tanner for seven years at N.C. State. A native of Monroeville, Pa., Toman and his wife Ashley live in Forest, Va. They have three children - Caroline (15), Charlie Mac (12), and Tucker (9). Tracking Liberty Liberty s game against West Virginia on Sunday completed a stretch of eight games in nine days for the Flames. 2B Bryan Aanderud hit.636 for the three-game series, including back-to-back three-hit games on Saturday and Sunday. The 2B has posted fi ve three-hit games this season. With his weekend at the plate, the senior takes over the team batting average (.340) and RBIs (29) lead. He led the Flames in both categories in. On Saturday, Aanderud had a career-high six RBIs in Liberty s 9-2 win. OF Ashton Perritt also had three hits and scored a career-high four runs in the Flames victory, Saturday. The outfielder also stole two bases. Sunday, RHP Trey Lambert pitched his second complete game of the season. However, the junior was on the short-end of a 2-1 score against West Virginia, 4/14. On Wednesday night at No. 1-ranked North Carolina, Liberty rallied for four runs in the ninth, but fell to the Tar Heels, 7-5. Perritt hit his second home run of the season in the third inning. He also walked with the base loaded to fi nish the night with two RBIs. C Trey Wimmer was added to the Johnny Bench Award Watch List, Tuesday. The Flames collected a season-high 18 hits in the contest. The Flames scored two runs in the 10th inning for the win. OF Nick Paxton was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs to force in the winning run. DH Danny Grauer had four hits, including two home runs and a double, and drove in four runs in Liberty s win. Grauer s four RBIs tied a career-high for the designated hitter. Wimmer had four hits, a RBI and scored twice in Liberty s win over James Madison, last Tuesday. Paxton is 13th in the nation in being hit by pitch. OF Ryan Cordell hit his fourth home run of the year in Tuesday s win over James Madison. He collected two RBIs and scored three runs. Cordell leads the Big South with 14 two-out RBIs. DH Danny Grauer had four hits, including two home runs and a double, and drove in four runs in Liberty s victory over James Madison, Tuesday. It was the second time this season, Grauer has four hits and four RBIs in a game. Playing at 1B, Grauer went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs in Liberty s win over Longwood, in game two of a doubleheader, 3/30. It was Grauer s fi rst four-hit and four-rbi game as a Flame. On Sunday, RHP Trey Lambert pitched his second complete game of the season. However, the junior was on the short-end of a 2-1 score against West Virginia, 4/14. Freshman LHP Robert Gray made his fi rst collegiate start at North Carolina, Wednesday. His previous 11 appearances had all been in relief. LHP Shawn Clowers provided 4 2/3 innings of relief in the Flames victory, Tuesday. He gave up one run on fi ve hits over the span. He struck out three Dukes.

Nick Pierce and Alan York will handle play-by-play and provide commentary for each of the Flames Sports Network s broadcasts. After 34 years of playing at Worthington Stadium, the Flames christened the new facility on Feb Liberty opened the stadium with a three-game sweep of Penn State, Feb. 2/23-24 and went on to win their first seven games at the facility. When completed in June, the stadium will have 2,500 chairback seats, a turf playing fi eld, a operations center for the baseball program and a fully functional press area. The award honors annually the nation s top collegiate catcher based on athletic ability, sportsmanship, team leadership and character. Three semifi nalists will be determined in May by a selection committee and a vote of all Division I head coaches, held during the College World Series, will determine the award s recipient. The catcher leads the Flames in slugging percentage, doubles, triples and total bases. Paxton Takes One for the Team OF Nick Paxton enters the week having been hit by a pitch 14 times. The junior OF leads the Big South in the category and ranked 22nd in the country in the latest NCAA statistical rankings (4/10). This past Tuesday, Paxton was hit by a pitch for the 12th time this season with the bases loaded and two outs to force in the winning run in Liberty s 12-11, 10 inning win over James Madison.
