LOVING THE LEATHER--Kansas City has played errorless ball in its last four games and comes out of the All-Star break with the best overall defensive numbers in the Majors...KC has committed 34 errors on the year, six fewer than the runner-up Miami Marlins, while the second place defense in the American League is Minnesota with 43...at the 87-game mark a season ago, the Royals had 54 errors. WORKING AGAINST THE WEST--Tonight opens a 3-game set with Texas and resumption of play against the American League West...the Royals have a ledger when battling the West this year, including a 4-game winning streak (Angels-1 and Seattle-3) and an 8-2 mark in the last 10...Texas has been the one hiccup on the slate, with KC going winless in a 4-game stop in Arlington back in April...in other divisional work, the Royals are just within the A.L. Central, with play resuming with 10-straight intradivisional matchups starting Monday vs. Detroit...KC has gone 10-8 in its last 18 Central battles after an abysmal 3-13 start...the Royals are 12-7 vs. the A.L.
