4 1. Introdution The Root Control is used to support progrmmers during the strt-up phse, integrting JBC devies s UCR nd SFR into utomted soldering proesses. The use of the SKR is not required fter the JBC Devie is integrted. It is only required t ertin times when you wish to interept ommunition frmes etween the JBC Devie nd the Root (PLC). Root Control, together with the Strter Kit for Automtion (SKR), filittes integrtion etween the Root's Proessor (PLC or Industril PC) nd one of the following JBC Devies: UCR Control Unit for Automtion (seril ommunition RS-232 * ) SFR Solder Feeder for Automtion (seril ommunition RS-232 * ) CLMR Tip Clener for Automtion (on/off swith input * ) * see orresponding Communition Protool t 2. Progrm Desription The SKR with this Progrm llows two onnetion modes, the "Control Mode" nd the "Sniffer Mode". Control Mode With this mode you n ommnd/get nswered ommunition frmes, whih re sent etween the PC nd the JBC Devie. Sniffer Mode This mode is used to interept the ommunition frmes sent etween the Root/PLC nd the JBC Devie. These ommunition frmes re displyed on the Sniffer Mode Pnel. Sniffer Mode lso filittes the deugging of the Root Control Softwre y frme deoding nd visuliztion in rel time. See pge 20 for more informtion. 4

6 4. Progrm Instlltion The SKR ontins two CP2102 (Silion Ls) integrted iruit-sed seril hnnel emultors tht serve to onvert USB onnetion into lssi synhronous seril hnnel. Step-y step instlltion of Root Control: 1. Downlod the JBC We Progrm t An.exe file will downlod to your PC. 2. Run the.exe file to instll the progrm on your PC. 3. If the orresponding drivers re missing, you must ept their utomti instlltion during the ".exe" file instlltion proess. (CP2102 driver from Silion Ls). 4. Now omplete the.exe progrm's instlltion. 5. Open the progrm y liking on the progrm ion instlled on your PC. The JBC Devie must e onneted to your PC. 5. Driver Instlltion When the SKR is onneted to your PC (vi USB) nd the Root Control is instlled, your PC will egin the driver instlltion proess. Note: If CP2102 integrted iruit-sed USB-Seril onverter hs een used t ny point, the drivers will hve lredy een instlled, nd the operting system will not need to instll the drivers gin. To work diretly with the Root-onneted SKR without downloding the JBC progrm, the drivers n e downloded diretly from the Silion Ls wesite y following this link: 6

7 6. Min sreen When you open the Root Control you will see the following min sreen: d e f g h i Developer (): It opens the Developer Pnel (see pge 18). You n ess the Developer Pnel efore onneting ny JBC Devie. Help (): By liking the Help utton (), the Progrmmers Guide for UCR nd SFR will open in.pdf formt. Connet (): By liking on the Connet utton, the utton's symol will hnge to green nd the word Disonnet will e shown. Clik on this sme utton to disonnet. The utton's symol will hnge to red nd the word "Connet" will e shown. Options (d): Clik this ion to open/lose the options disply. Seril Port (e): Selet the port where the JBC Devie is onneted. With Addresses (f): To onnet with ddresses, tik the ox. To onnet without ddresses, the ox must e untiked. 7

8 Lol Address (g): Selet the ddress of the lol PC. Sttion Address (h): Selet the ddress of the JBC Devie. Conneting In order to onnet the UCR or the SFR, you need to mke the following steps: 1. Choose the Seril Port in whih the devie is onneted Selet the Sttion Address ording to your devie:. UCR defult ddress 1. SFR defult ddress Clik on Connet utton in the top

9 8. UCR Options One the JBC Devie is onneted to UCR, the Options pnel shows the following dditionl options: Unit Temp.: You n selet C or F for the tempertures seleted nd shown on-sreen. Selet Temp. Chrt: Selet the min/mx temperture for the rnge of the grphi tht will pper to the left. Sve Rnges: To sve the rnge of the grphi. 9. Pnels One onneted, you n selet either "User Mode" or "Developer Mode" from the Generl Pnel. The User Mode sreen will vry depending on the JBC Devie onneted. 10. 10 10.1 Generl Pnel - UCR Conneted Selet the t to ess the Generl Settings Pnel (). f g d e Atul Temperture (): It indites the urrent temperture of the tip. Seleted Temperture (): It indites the hosen temperture. Temperture Adjustment (d): There re 2 uttons for +5 nd -5 to djust the Seleted Temperture. Grphi Chrt (e): The grphi shows the temperture (red) nd the power (lue). The grphi's rnge n e hnged through the "Selet. Temp. Chrt vlues to the ottom right. Power Inditor (f): The power's sle indites the perentge of the power delivered ompred to the mximum power of the JBC Devie. Sttus (g): You n hnge etween following sttus: Work: The tip will het up to the Seleted Work Temperture. Sleep: The temperture flls to the preset Sleep Temperture. If Dely Time is defined, the tip egins to drop to room temperture fter the time hs pssed. Extrt: The power is ut off nd the tool ools down to room temperture. Use this Sttus to extrt the tip. 10

11 10.2 Devie Settings Pnel - UCR Conneted Selet the t to ess the Devie Settings Pnel (). d Mx./Min. Temperture (): You n hnge the Mx./Min. Temperture of the tip. The Seleted Temp. must e etween these 2 vlues. Reset Devie Settings (): Clik the symol nd the vlues return to their defult/ftory vlues. You must reoot the sttion to see the reset vlues. Note: All hnges to vlues re utomtilly sved when the sttion is turned off/on, exept for the seleted temperture. Sve Seleted Temperture to E2PROM (d): The Sve Seleted Temperture to E2PROM funtion is used to sve the modified seleted temperture vlue. The hek ox must first e tiked to tivte this funtion. 11

12 10.3 Tool Settings Pnel - UCR Conneted Selet the Tool Settings t () to onfigure the settings of the JBC Devie nd its tools. d e f Temp. Alrm (): Define n upper/lower temperture to show wrning. Adjust Temperture (): Depending on the rtridge used, you n estlish temperture offset. Sleep Temp. (d): Temperture during the Sleep phse. Sleep Dely (e): Time efore moving from Work to Sleep. Hierntion Dely (f): Time efore moving from Sleep to Hierntion. 12

13 10.4 Counter Pnel - UCR Conneted To see hours/work yles, selet the Counters t (). Counters (): The JBC Devie ounters show totl hours. Relod ounters (): All vlues re in red only mode. 14 11.1 Generl Pnel - SFR Conneted Selet the t to ess the Generl Settings Pnel (). d e f h g Continuous / Disontinuous (): Continuous or Disontinuous Mode n e seleted. Speed (): Alwys entered s mm/s Length (d): Alwys entered s mm (only pplile in disontinuous mode) Wire Feeding / Stop Feeding (e): Ation uttons to strt nd stop wire feeding. Strt Loding / Stop Loding (f): Ation uttons to strt nd stop wire loding if solder wire is to e fed into the Solder Feeder's Drg Mehnism. Cler Error (g): Ation utton to ler the error messge. Error informtion (h): Informtion on the error's sttus, if there is one. 14

15 11.2 Devie Settings Pnel - SFR Conneted Selet the t to ess the Devie Settings Pnel (). d e f Mode (): Continuous or Disontinuous Mode n e seleted. Speed (): Alwys entered s mm/s. Length (d): Alwys entered s mm, nd is only pplile in Disontinuous Mode. Reset Devie Settings (e): Clik the symol nd the vlues return to their defult/ftory vlues. Sve Settings (f): The modified vlues re sved fter liking the Sve Settings To Non Voltile Memory utton (E2PROM), otherwise they re not sved when the SFR is restrted. 15

16 11.3 Counter Pnel - SFR Conneted Selet the t to ess the Counter Disply Pnel (). d The vlues () shown re the totl nd prtil hours of JBC Devie ounters. Relod ounters (): Vlues re not utomtilly updted, so you must Relod the Counters y liking the symol to see the urrent vlues. Reset Prtil Counters (d): Ation utton to reset the prtil vlues olumn to 0. 16

17 12. Developer Mode Pnel Used to send frme ommnds through the progrm, in order to ommunite with the JBC Devies (UCR or SFR). To ess the Developer Mode Pnel, lik the orresponding utton (). d e f There is Commnds spe () on the left, nd nother spe on the right to view frme ommunitions (). Commnds (): Comptile ommnds will e shown ording to the JBC Devie onneted. Depending on the ommnd seleted, the "Red" or "Write" uttons will e shown on the ottom left fter liking on the ommnd. Red: is to reeive (get nswered) informtion/vlues from the JBC Devie. Write: is to send (ommnd) ommnds/vlues to the JBC Devie. When seleting Red/Write, the frme uto-fills using vlues previously entered in the User Mode Pnels, nd the frme is shown utomtilly in the spe to the right. Commnd/Vlue (): Selet Commnd from the list () nd send Vlue ording to the Commnd. Communitions pnel (d): Shows the send (ommnd) nd response (get nswered) ommunition frmes. The frmes re shown in hexdeiml vlues. 17

Disover onneted Devies (f): Clik to open new window where you n selet etween 2 ts: Serh nd Log. Serh t: Clik on the Strt Serh utton to strt serhing for Conneted Devies. All devies found will e shown one the serh is omplete. Log t: When exeuting serh, the serh dt is shown. The Cler Log utton lers the disply. Serh t Log t 18

19 12.1 Sniffer Mode Pnel Sniffer Mode is essed through the Sniffer utton. This mode is used to detet sent ommnds nd view JBC Devie trffi, if you re using PLC (see pge 5). f e g d Seril Port (): Selet one Seril Port for PLC nd the other Seril Port for the JBC Devie. Port onfigurtion (): You n hnge the Configurtion Settings. Frme Detetion (): Clik on Strt, nd if there is ny ommunition etween the two seleted ports, the ommunition frmes will e shown. Clik on Stop to stop frme detetion. Frme Field (d): Communition frmes will e displyed. Cler Log (e): Clik to ler the frme detetion field. Copy Log to Clipord (f): Clik to rete opy of the frmes deteted. With Colours (g): Ativte to hve the dt frmes displyed in olour. This representtion my filitte the reding of dt. 19
