There is no better tool for optimizing training than a power meter. WATT IS POWER? At the most basic level, power equals force multiplied by distance, divided by time, and is measured in watts (like your light bulb used to be before lumens came along). POWER (WATTS) FORCE X DISTANCE TIME In cycling terms it s the energy required to move the rider and bike over a certain distance. Roughly, the more force a cyclist generates in a shorter time, the greater the power exerted and distance traveled. Strain gauges within a power meter measure force via what is termed a "balanced electrical circuit."
