2 Join the Facebook Group Lean On Me Challenge for updates on the event Or follow on Twitter under #LBGLeanOnMe Plan and Timings 2 The West Country Walk starts and end at the Harbourside and Canon s House offices on Canon s Way in Bristol. It starts by heading east on the Bristol and Bath Railway Path before circling back to the city. The route follows the River Avon for some time before passing Ashton Gate football ground and heading up the hill to the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge. After crossing the bridge the walkers will cross Clifton Down before returning to the Harbourside. 3 Stage 1 Harbourside to Clay Hill From Harbourside, take the path to the river and turn left on the river path 0.3 Turn right across the bridge and carry on over Prince Street and along the edge of Queens Square 0.6 After the square, keep straight on over the roundabout by the Hole in the Wall pub and cross the bridge 0.7 Straight on at the roundabout (2 nd exit) 1.0 At the next roundabout take the 3 rd exit up Friary past the station car park, then straight over the mini roundabout 1,2 When the road finishes, carry straight on over the bridge 1,4 After the bridge, cross Avon Street then Anvil Street into Chimney Steps 1.5 Take the 2 nd left into Barton Road 1.6 At the end, turn left into Midland Road then take the next right into St Phillips Road 1.8 As the road bends to the left, go straight on along the Bristol and Bath Railway path Pass under the Causeway 2.1 Pass under Lawrence Hill 2.4 Pass over Easton Road 3.1 Pass over Rose Green Road 3.3 Checkpoint at the path up from Rose Green Road
4 Stage 2 Clay Hill to Siston Park Continue along the railway path 0.7 Pass under Lodge Causeway 1.3 Pass under Forest Road 2.3 Pass under Teewell Hill 3.0 At the old Mangotsfield Station, take the right fork and start following the path steadily round to the right 3.3 Pass under Ridley Avenue 3.4 Turn right on another path and follow that path round to the left 3.5 Cross over Siston Park, head down some steps, across a path and up steps the other side, turning left at the top 3.6 Checkpoint as this road meets the main road
5 Stage 3 Siston Park to Hanham Cut through the railings to Station Road and turn right towards the roundabout, then veer left (1 st exit) into Anchor Road 0.3 Straight on at the roundabout (2 nd exit) onto Tenniscourt Road 0.9 At the end at the lights, turn right on high street and then shortly afterwards turn left on Grimsbury Road following the sign to the Community Farm 1.1 Straight over the mini roundabout (1 st exit) 1.3 At the roundabout, turn right (2 nd exit) onto Cock Road 1.6 Straight on at the mini roundabout (1 st exit) 1.8 Straight on at the mini roundabout (1 st exit) 1.9 Turn left on Hollyguest Road 2.0 As the road turns right into Kelston Grove, go straight on down the narrow road ahead and follow it round to the right 2.2 Turn left on Greenbank Road after the Cross Keys pub 2.4 Take the third right on Highfield Avenue 2.6 At the end turn left on High Street and arrive at Checkpoint between Fish and Chip shop and Blue Bowl pub
6 0.0 Head down Whittucks Road, at the side of the Blue Bowl 0.7 At the end, turn right on the main road. 1.4 Turn left on Church Road and then take the second right on Polly Barnes Hill 1.5 Head through the narrow lane, passing straight on through the bollards and at the top, turn left on Dundridge lane 2.1 Soon after the lane narrows, take the steps down to the left and head straight down Niblett s Hill at the bottom 2.2 At the bottom, turn left on Crew Hole Road 2.3 Turn acutely right onto the river path and follow it keeping the river on your left 3.1 Pass under the bridge over the river, turn right to the bridge entrance and cross the water to the Checkpoint on the other side THIRTY MINUTE LUNCH BREAK Stage 4 Hanham to Riverside Surgery 6
7 Stage 5 Riverside Surgery to St Lukes Follow the river path south east round the back of the factories emerging on Feeder Road 0.5 Carefully cross the road and head down Whitby Road opposite 1.0 Turn left just before the roundabout straight after the Range Rover garage and follow Whitby Road to the end 1.1 As the road bends left, turn right through the bollards and carry on down Bloomfield Road 1.2 At the end, turn left on Bath Road, cross over using the crossing and enter the park through the entrance to your left take the right hand path across the centre of the park 1.5 Follow the path into the trees and keep right at the fork 1.6 On exiting the park, veer right straight up Withleigh Road 1.7 At the end, turn right on Selworthy Road leading into Greenmore Road and follow it round to the left 1.9 At the end, head straight over Wells Road onto Redcatch Road to the side of the church 2.3 Turn right by the high grey boundary wall on St Agnes Avenue (no street sign) 2.4 At the roundabout, take the 3 rd exit down Ravenhill Road (no thru road for vehicles) and then take the first left on Fitzgerald Road 2.7 At the end, cross straight over St Johns Lane and head down Margate Street 2.8 Checkpoint at the park at the end of Margate Street
8 Stage 6 St Lukes to Clifton Suspension Bridge Follow the path into the centre of the park (centre of three paths from the entrance) 0.2 As the paths merge veer left on the path to the corner of the park 0.3 Keep on in the same direction leaving the park through the gates and continue up Somerset Terrace 0.4 Take first right on Orwell Street, then left on Vivian Street then immediately right on Fraser Street 0.6 At the end, turn right on Windmill Hill, pass under the railway, and turn left on Hereford Street 0.7 At the end turn left and immediately right on Church Lane, following this up the footpath at the side of the church 0.8 Pass through the bollards and turn left on East Street 0.9 At the junction turn right onto Cannon Street by the London Inn and then left at the roundabout (1 st exit) onto North Street 1.4 Straight on at the mini roundabout (2nd exit) 1.9 Pass Bristol City FC and as the road bends to the left fork right up the cul-de-sac 2.0 At the end, follow the footpath under the flyover and emerge at the roundabout, keeping right and continuing up Clanage Road 2.6 Take care when crossing from pavement on right to raised pavement on left 2.9 Cross road again and take the right turn up Burwalls Road 3.1 turn right on Bridge Road 3.3 Checkpoint before the bridge
