6 Pilot Monitoring Overview Monitoring Objectives Provide a framework for Council to decide the outcome of the pilot project Identify areas in the corridor requiring design refinements Public and Technical Advisory Committees Approximately 30 people who live and/or work on Laurier West, including local community and condominium associations, businesses, and city advisory committees City staff from various departments (Public Works, Accessibility Office, By-Law, Fire, etc.) To collaboratively guide the development and review of the monitoring program, including design modification recommendations 6

15 Cycling Survey Feedback: Pilot Monitoring Indicators: Cycling and Pedestrian Operations 85% somewhat or very favourable towards the segregated bike lanes on Laurier 98% usually or always bike in the segregated bike lane when on Laurier Avenue 86% somewhat or much more comfortable cycling on Laurier compared to a street without segregated bike lanes Pedestrian Survey Feedback: 79% somewhat or very favourable towards the segregated bike lanes on Laurier 65% do not think that the bike lanes have made it more difficult to cross Laurier 60% somewhat or strongly believe the bicycle lanes have increased pedestrian safety 15

18 Pilot Monitoring Indicators: Public Feedback (July 2011 June 2013) 415 written comments received 198 support project (48%) 119 disapprove of project (28%) 98 informational / other (24%) 5 petitions received 2 to keep the lanes 2 to remove the lanes 1 to make changes 18
19 Design Mitigation Recommendations: Bronson Avenue to Bay Street (2013) Minor pavement markings and signage adjustments, mainly between Bronson Avenue and Bay Street to provide 22 additional on-street public parking spaces 19
