9 Traffic Forecasts County Special Project Analysis Report (SPAR) updated in 2011 Existing daily traffic = 11,400 Forecasted 2030 daily traffic = 18,400 Approximately growth = two percent per year More detailed sensitivity analysis Analysis using travelsheds in regional travel demand model Traffic growth may only reach one percent per year for this corridor Improvement analyses used peak hour intersection traffic forecasts from the SPAR Two percent per year traffic volumes represents a worst case scenario CSAH 101 Study Corridor Trip Contribution NORTH

10 Trail System Considerations NORTH Lacking Trail / Walk Continuity Proposed improvements include a continuous trail on east side and a continuous sidewalk on west side Tie into existing trail connections, N and S ends Provide easier access to Purgatory Park Provide safe access to Clear Springs Elementary School

11 Roadway Sections Existing Geometry Two-lane rural cross-section Minimal curb and gutter Occasional turn lanes Trail on one side with crossing at Hanus Road Comparison to 3-Lane section north of Highway 7 Through lane width will be 11 feet vs. 12 feet Center turn-lane width will be 11 feet vs. 14 feet Shoulders will be 5 feet wide vs. 6 feet Trail and sidewalk included Net street width reduction is approximately 7 feet

12 Proposed Improvements at Key Intersections Excelsior Boulevard (CSAH 3) CSAH 62 Hanus Road Improvements Right-turn lanes for northbound and southbound CSAH 101 Dedicated left-turn and right-turn lanes on Excelsior Boulevard Left-turn signal phases Remove westbound to northbound free-right-turn condition Extend both southbound lanes beyond Tracy Lynn Terrace prior to merging Proposed Existing Tracy Lynn Ter

13 Proposed Improvements at Key Intersections Excelsior Boulevard (CSAH 3) CSAH 62 Hanus Road In analyzing 2030 traffic volumes, it was determined that the dual eastbound to northbound turn lanes would still be needed. Improvements Extend both northbound lanes beyond Creek View Trail prior to merging Proposed Creek View Trail
